What is OFS

OFS (Open Financial Service) is an interface

that allows transactions and queries requests
to be processed by T24.

21 September 2022
Why OFS

• OFS is the only standard gateway to T24.

• OFS is the single point of entry to T24. Every single interaction
with T24 is driven through OFS.
• OFS syntax & OFS format messages are native to T24.
• Native way to represent request to execute T24 transactions,
enquiries or routines
• T24 technology products like TEMENOS Connectors,
TEMENOS T24 Browser, TEMENOS Internet Banking use OFS
to interact with TEMENOS T24 applications

Features

• Request – Response based approach

• Provides options for Offline / Store and Forward of messages
• Fully multi company / multi book aware
• Full support for hierarchical data (multi values, sub values)
• Optional audit trail for each message processed
• Supports logging of messages and provides error message
details
• Override & Error handling options – GTS.CONTROL
• API hooks for pre and post processing
• Provides VALIDATE option
• XML processing
– Parsing XML messages - OFS.PARSER.XML
– Setting up XML tags - OFS.XML.TAGS

Request types

OFS module supports three types of requests

• Transaction requests
• Enquiry requests
• Subroutine requests

21 September 2022
Request types

Transaction requests
– To execute a T24 application or version
– Should contain all (mandatory) transaction related field data.

Enquiry requests
– To execute a T24 enquiry.
– Query the T24 database using built-in enquiries
– Should contain all possible actions for running a enquiry like
specifying selection conditons(s), operand(s), fields ..etc.

Subroutine requests
– To execute a subroutine in T24 environment
– OFS just calls the routine and by itself doesn't do any processing
– Used when multiple files have to updated.

Modes of Processing

The various processing modes available in OFS

• Batch mode
• Online mode
• Globus mode

21 September 2022
OFS Batch mode

• OFS batch deals with batches of

data/messages.
• Batch of data contained in files
• Can process a file of single/multiple
messages.
• Used for offline processing - messages
are picked from queue
• OFS.QUEUE.MANAGER runs a phantom
process
• BATCH mode is controlled using
OFS.SOURCE & EB.PHANTOM record
setup

21 September 2022
OFS Online mode

• OFS Online allows real-time update to T24

via a live TELNET link/connection
• Connection established with pre-defined
UNIX/WINDOWS login
• EB.AUTO.INIT.PROCESS is executed upon
login & jBASE .profile needs to be updated
with this information
• EB.AUTO.INIT.PROCESS - looks
EB.AUTO.PROCESS with ID as
UNIX/WINDOWS login
• AUTO.START.PROCESS field of
EB.AUTO.PROCESS is updated with
OFS.START.ONLINE.COMMS
• Once connection is established
OFS.ONLINE.MANAGER will be started as
a phantom by
OFS.START.ONLINE.COMMS

21 September 2022
OFS Globus mode

• OFS Globus mode is used by T24

appplications to perform updates
across applications/files
• OFS.GLOBUS.MANAGER is called
with argument as the OFS.SOURCE
ID and the actual message to be
processed.
• OFS.GLOBUS.MANAGER calls
OFS.REQUEST.MANAGER to do
processing & returns the response.
• Database writes will not be executed
unless JOURNAL.UPDATE is called
in the routine used.

21 September 2022
OFS.POST.MESSAGE service

OFS.GLOBUS.MANAGER
– should not be used within Online-Applications (e.g versions)
– should not be used in INPUT.ROUTINE, BEFORE.AUTH.RTN, AUTH.ROUTINE
levels from G15
– Fatal out with error “SENSITIVE ROUTINES CALLED IN LOCAL RTNS”

OFS.POST.MESSAGE
• Create a mainline routine and invoke OFS.POST.MESSAGE as follows
– CALL OFS.POST.MESSAGE(Y.OFS.MESSAGE,OFS.MSG.ID,OFS.SOURCE.ID,OPTIONS)
– SOURCE.TYPE of OFS.SOURCE used should be GLOBUS
• OFS message will get written on to a file named F.OFS.MESSAGE.QUEUE
• Run OFS.MESSAGE.SERVICE
– multi threaded service
– processes requests in F.OFS.MESSAGE.QUEUE
• Once the message is processed, the response is written to an out queue
named F.OFS.RESPONSE.QUEUE.
• OFS.RESPONSE.QUEUE – service to purge F.OFS.RESPONSE.QUEUE

21 September 2022
OFS Applications

• OFS.SOURCE

• OFS.REQUEST.DETAIL
– OFS.REQUEST.DETAILS referred to as ORD in T24 is used to
OFS to maintain an audit of OFS requests.
– Audit info is recorded per message
– To enable OFS audit the field MAINT.MSG.DETS in OFS.SOURCE
record needs to be se to "Y".

• EB.PHANTOM record
– EB.PHANTOM control phantom & interactive jobs.
– Processing done by the routine set in the RUN.ROUTINE field
– OFS.QUEUE.MANAGER - standard T24 routine specified in
RUN.ROUTINE field for BATCH mode.
