INTRODUCTION

 Pavements are building blocks of transportation networks.

 According to the Basic Road Statistics 2017, India, there has been distinctive increase in road
network in recent decade and among it, 70.65% of the road network is comprised of rural roads.
 Rural roads are important for the economical and social development of the villages.
 Pavement need to be regular maintained and evaluated to serve the public up to intended design
life.
 Pavement Condition Surveys are done to collect the data of the distresses.
 Unlike Highways, Rural roads are usually surveyed manually which is a laborious and time
consuming process.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
 The rural engineers face a lot of difficulties collecting the data manually, the frequency of
the data collection is very low.
 Therefore, the road survey data of rural roads is sparsely available.
 The need of partial automation is the aim of this project that should be accessible and
affordable for any rural engineers.
 The Distresses ,such as potholes, rutting, shoveling, raveling, severe cracks etc. for flexible
pavements; and punch outs, joint widening, settlements cracks and corner cracks for rigid
pavements, which include depth component are particularly more difficult to measure
manually
