This zone is called the High Damage Risk Zone and covers areas liable to MSK VIII. The IS code assigns zone factor of 0.24 for Zone 4.

Given below are some of the requisites for Seismic Zone IV compliant
buildings mentioned in IS 4326-1993 Code of Practice by Bureau of Indian
Standards:

•Horizontal seismic bands, consisting of reinforced concrete, through all


internal and external masonry walls (plinth band, roof and floor band, lintel
