ROLE OF E COMMERCE IN SUPPLY CHAIN
• The role of e-commerce in SCM is two-fold
First, retailers use e-commerce to sell directly to clients, either on their own
website or through a service like Amazon or e-Bay.
Secondly, retailers can buy products and raw materials using e-commerce systems
from manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors.
 ENHANCED CRM:
SCM plays a vital role in establishing relationship between enterprise and customer.
SCM removes intermediate stages of delivery of product and establishes
communication between customer and enterprise directly using websites and internet.
Websites helps enterprise to keep in  touch with customer directly and they can get
requirements and feedback about products directly.

VIRTUAL BUSINESSES:
With the advent of dynamic websites, organizations are  focusing on virtual
businesses like they are listing  their products on websites  rather  than  providing  it
to  distributor  or  C&F  by  which many  people  can  see  their  products  and
can purchase  it  from  websites  and  further  delivery  of product is dependent upon
SCM logistic department
REDUCTION IN COST:
SCM based on e-commerce removes various stages of distribution, retailers,
outlets, outlet staff etc. This decreases overall cost of product and customer gets
direct advantage of reduced cost of products as compared to cost of product
available at stores.

TRADE GLOBALLY:
SCM provides facility to  trade  globally.  If business  wants  to  do  business
globally  then  their SCM  should  be such that  they  can  import  raw  material
from  anywhere  through  SCM or  can export  their  finished  product  in  any
country  easily. Indian market is also  growing  day  by day. Business
organizations have adopted ICT in their businesses.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN SUPPLY CHAIN
• SUPPLY CHAIN DIGITIZATION
•  Digitization of the supply chain, encompassing all efforts to integrate corporate
systems into a unified whole as well as implementing new digital technologies, will
continue to be a priority. The goal of digitization, is a smart, efficient supply chain
ecosystem that demolishes silos, creates transparency and enhances responsiveness
• OMNICHANNEL SUPPLY   CHAINS
omnichannel supply chains place greater demands on logistic and supply chains
with the simultaneous requirements of supplying individual customer orders as well
as replenishing stock at retail outlets. The switch from single- and multi-channel
supply to omni supply chain requires a complete rethink of supply chain logistics
• ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Advanced AI solutions have numerous applications in the supply chain, especially
the warehousing segment. This includes use of gesture recognition solutions
instead of keyboards and mice in the procurement process

• CIRCULAR SUPPLY CHAIN

The term “linear supply chain” refers to the conventional concept where goods
flow linearly (from raw material to finished product). Modern logistics practices
focus on the circular supply chain concept
• AGILE SUPPLY CHAINS
To effectively compete, supply chains need to be flexible and agile, as well as able
to respond to changes on short notice .Advantages of this include shorter delivery
times and lower shipping costs. With less money tied up in stock, organizations
can respond more quickly to changes in demand

• USE OF SAAS IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN

Use of the software-as-a-service model in supply chain technologies and logistics
management is gaining popularity, hand in hand with the rise of cloud computing
