GENERAL INFORMATION

• The republican policies helped drive the growth of the American


economy
• The protective tariffs ensured that American goods were less
expensive than imported goods
• The Republicans applied a theory of Laissez-faire when making decisions,
this meant that the government should interfere as small amount as possible
in the daily life of people. ​
• Taxation was likewise maintained to a minimum by the Republicans. This
provided some benefits to ordinary workers, but it provided considerably
greater benefits to the rich.
• The Republican Policies support lower taxes, free-market capitalism,
restrictions on immigration, increased military spending, gun rights,
restrictions on abortion, deregulation, and restrictions on labor unions.
