CORRECTIONS
Reception Procedure
• A well-planned and orderly reception of
offender has direct bearing on good jail
management.
• A decent and humane program should form
part with the commitment of the process and
will greatly affect his behavior while in
confinement and after his release.
Manner of Releasing
• A prisoner may be released by:
Service of Sentence;
Order of the Court;
Parole;
Pardon;
Amnesty;
Any lawful order of competent authority.
Manner of Releasing
• If feasible, a prisoner shall be notified of his release at
least one week before the date of his discharge;
• Before an offender is released, he shall be properly
identified to ensure that he is the same person received
and to be taken when he was received.
• No offender shall be released on a mere verbal order
or by telephone.
Manner of Releasing
• An offender shall be released promptly and without
unreasonable delay;
• Under proper receipt, all the money earned and other
valuables held in trust when first admitted shall be
returned to the offender upon release.
• The release offender shall be issued a Certificate of
Discharge from jail by the Warden or Jailer.
