ESTIMATION FOR INSTALLATION OF SOLAR PANELS

FOR ON GRID SUPPLY

Team:
• JUFAIL KP
• MOHAMMED ARSHAD ALI
• UNAIS.CV
• MURSHID L.C
EXISTING TECHNOLOGY

• Here we Presently the institute is using utility power (MESCOM) and also diesel generator to backup for power
outing.
EXISTING TECHNOLOGY -DEFECT

• Financial analysis has been performed with present system cost(more or less 4 lakhs per month)
based on life cycle cost of energy
• Interrupted power supply
• Voltage fluctuation
Solution:
• The future is solar energy. Mounting of solar panels, dimensions of panels, availability of sunlight constantly are under
initial study. depending on the required load no of panels are used.
• No battery is used as it is on grid supply to avoid the replacement of batteries for over 3-4 years. The energy produced
during the day off of the college could be supplied to the grid.

WHY WE ARE NOT USING BATTERY:
For example,

required power for PA Institute is 1MW
1 Solar panel gives an output of 500W,24V

 WKT,
P=V*I

Therefore,
I= P/V

I= (1*106)/24

I=41,666.67A

One battery gives 125A therefore, number of battery required for 1 MW is
334 batteries
METHODOLOGY:
bjective of this study is to present the financial feasibility of power required by PA Institute(around 5MW) roof top solar PV
.

ple,

ower for PA Institute is 1MW

nel gives an output of 500W,24V and it costs around 23,000Rs.

*I

I= P/V

I= (1*106)/24

I=41,666.67A

y gives 125A therefore, number of battery required for 1 MW is 334 batteries.we are avoiding the usage of batteries to overcome
m of changing the battery for over 3-4 years and its maintenance each year. Mounting of solar panels, dimensions of panels,
y of sunlight constantly are under initial study.
solar panel required=2000
Modelling

NECESSARY THING:

• Solar panel(monocrystaline,polycrystalline, thin film solar panel)

• Power load calculation
ADVANTAGES:

Have access to power continuously as long as sunlight is present(day time).
Stable supply of power increases the overall efficiency of electronic components
Can effectively manage usage of power based on requirements through smart electronics
No dependency on diesel.
The quality of this power is superior to the regular grid power.
Investment against increasing fuel and grid charges.
Batteries are avoided to reduce the maintenance cost.
  Low and optimum maintenance cost.
RESULT:
• During vacation the generated power could be supplied to grid
• Within 5 years Capital investment can be returned

Self sufficient:
By installing solar PV power plant in the educational institution it can get a benefit of producing its
own and sufficient electrical energy without shortages or scheduled and unscheduled power cuts.

Renewable Energy Corporation:
Educational institutes can get a benefit of registering with Renewable Energy Certification which
increases the goodwill about the institution.

Green energy:
Can reduce the carbon gases into the environment.
