 WHO WAS CAROL SHAW?
• Was born in 1955 in California;
• Her first contact with a videogame was at a mini-golf course that
had an arcade;
• Her favorite game was “computer sapece” the first arcade in
history;
• In 1977 carol already graduated in electrical engineering and
computer science;
• In 1978, she became the first woman to develop an electronic
game. (3-D Tic-Tac-Toe)
• In 1982 she started working at Activision becoming the
programmer of the fantastic River Raid, their most successful
game.

• In 1984, Shaw left Activision after completing the design of the

Happy Trails game.
• She was also responsible for adapting games for the Atari 8-bit
console.
• In the early 1990s, Carol retired, even before reaching old age,
thanks to the immense success of River Raid.
