ICT – Information & Communication
Technology
• It’s a technology that involve the way we search for information and
the way we communicate.
• Normally, it integrates all communication channels such as phones,
computers, internet and so on for us to use in our everyday life.
Advantages of Technology in the classroom
• Technology Promotes individual learning.
• Technology bridges the gap between teachers and students
• Technology Encourages group learning
• Technology simplifies teachers work
BASIC CONCEPTS IN INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY

• Integrating technology with teaching means the use of learning

technologies to introduce, reinforce, supplement and extend skills.
There is planning by the teacher on the process of determining how
and when technology gets into the teaching-learning process. In such,
technology occupies a position (in a simple or complex way) in the
instructional process.
• Technology Is the central instructional tool
• Technology integration has no substantial change in the teaching-
learning process from the previous method. There is a purposeful use
of technology to support key learning areas.
ROLE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
IN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
•  Information technology has made both teaching and learning easier. Education using Digital Books
Information Technology has made group studies and Assignments much easier Information Technology
has made Access to Research and information much easier Information Technology has made Education
Accessible for all the students Information Technology has made education fun and entertaining
Information Technology helps the teachers and administration to keep track of all students in classroom
• Using IT the teachers can create interesting audio and visual presentations which will keep the students
engaged and will give them a greater understanding of all the concepts. By encouraging the students to
use information technology to submit their tests, homework and assignments. Information Technology
has given rise to various tools and application which can be used by School administration and teachers
to track the progress of individual students.
•  Few years back the students had to spend hours in library to search for information or data they need
for their dissertation or assignment. Introduction of virtual classroom has completely displaced the
traditional classroom methodologies. It used to create confusion because every student has got their
own opinion and group discussions would create a total mess. In the modern world of today every
student knows how to use computer, tablet and mobile phones.
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION

• There are many teaching methods and resources available to teach Social
Science subject. There is the need to select appropriate methods to
achieve the desired objectives. The resources can be determined by what
is available and relevant to the students’ age, ability and interest. I have
discussed a few out of other methods available for use in the teaching of
Social Sciences, the methods discussed are not exhaustive. It is also
obvious that no single method of learning can adequately fit all learning
situations. However, it should be noted that there is no best method of
teaching Social Sciences but combination of the other methods would
definitely help in achieving the desired instructional objectives.
• Technology has a way to motivate students and keep them engaged
