PIVOT TABLE
WHAT IS PIVOT TABLE?
A PivotTable is a powerful tool to calculate, summarize, and analyze data that lets you see comparisons, patterns,
and trends in your data.

WHY DO WE NEED PIVOT TABLE?

• Present large amounts of data in a user-friendly way.
• Summarize data by categories and subcategories.
• Filter, group, sort and conditionally format different subsets of data so that you can focus on the most relevant
information.
• Rotate rows to columns or columns to rows (which is called "pivoting") to view different summaries of the source
data.
STEPS TO CREATE PIVOT TABLE:
1. Select the cells you want to create a PivotTable from.
2. Select Insert > PivotTable.

3. This will create a PivotTable based on an existing table or range.

4. Choose where you want the PivotTable report to be placed. Select New Worksheet to place
the PivotTable in a new worksheet or Existing Worksheet and select where you want the new
PivotTable to appear.

5. Click OK
GOAL SEEK
WHAT IS GOAL SEEK?
Goal Seek is Excel's built-in What-If Analysis tool that shows how one value in a formula impacts
another. More precisely, it determines what value you should enter in an input cell to get the desired result
in a formula cell.

The best thing about Excel Goal Seek is that it performs all calculations behind the scenes, and you are
only asked to specify these three parameters:
• Formula cell/Set cell
• Target/desired value
• The cell to change in order to achieve the target

It’s useful to answer “what if” type questions because you can adjust one cell entry to see how the results
change. The tool is often used in finance, sales, and forecasting scenarios, but there are other uses.
Steps to Use Goal Seek Excel:

1.Put the cursor on the cell that contains the output you want to change,
2.On the Data ribbon, select What-if-analysis, then select Goal Seek.
3.When the dialog box appears (as shown below) make “Set cell” .
4.Set “To value” equal to the output you want to achieve (type the number in).
5.Set “By changing cell” equal to the assumption you want to solve for.
6.Press OK
