BODY WARM UPS

WHAT ARE WARM UPS?

A warm-up is any physical activity that is done to prepare the

body for movement.
For example, athletes warm up their bodies before
races/matches. Similarly, performers have a lot of movement
on stage and must also warm up their bodies.
WHY ARE WARM UPS
IMPORTANT?

It is very important for any performer to do warm ups before a rehearsal or performance.
Why? Because actors use their bodies to perform, they must ensure that it is well taken care of.
Warm ups help to stretch the muscles and prevents the actor from suffering major injuries.
Warm ups also help to energize our bodies and can boost the actor’s performance.
Lastly, warm ups can help actors to relax and eases pain and tension, allowing them to move
freely

AFTER A WARM UP, AN ACTOR
MUST “COOL DOWN”

After any physical warm up, the performer should perform a cool down exercise.
A cool down is any exercise or activity that is less intense and more slow-paced that is
used to help the actor’s body return to a more relaxed state. Cool Downs are done after a
period of intense work outs/warm ups.
You can use Stretches and Breathing techniques as Cool Downs as well.
