Speaking Part 2: Describing Something

Have you noticed in speaking part 2 you are


often asked to describe something. Today
we will also be describing something
related to the theme of health and fitness.

Practice for the Speaking Part 2 test by


thinking about the following topics. Tell your
partner what language and vocabulary you
would use to describe them.

1. Describe an object (a gift, something you


use etc.)

2. Describe a person (someone you admire, a


family member etc.)

3. Describe an event (a festival, celebration


etc.)

4. Describe an activity (e.g. a hobby)

5. Describe a place (somewhere you visited, a


holiday etc.)

I don't have much time to do sports or go to the gym, so


the only thing I do to keep healthy is going to bed and
getting up early. It seems that it's easy to go to bed and
get up early, but it's not the case. Going to bed early is
not easy to do. For example, when some classmates
stay up late preparing for an exam, I will feel a lot of
peer pressure.

More than once I have felt that I should stay up late


together with them to study, especially just before the
exam dates. There are also a lot of temptations such as
computer games that make it worse. Sometimes all the
people in the dorm stay up late playing on their phones
or checking social media.

I think early to bed and early to rise can help me keep


healthy physically and mentally.

So, it has become the only thing I do to keep healthy,


and I am proud I can do so because it requires
considerable persistence and strong will.
