 Marie curie was the pioneer of research in radioactivity. Because of her unwavering will and
insatiable curiosity made her an icon in the world of modern science. She discovered polonium and
radium. Along with her husband she coined the term radioactivity and they found that radiation may
be used to treat tumors since it has the ability to kill malignant cells more quickly than healthy cells.
She also helps countless people in WW1 in terms of healing the wounded. She developed mobile
radiology which later became known as Petites Curies to allow battlefields surgeons to X-Ray
wounded soldiers. Her WW1 efforts pave the way for extensive use of X-rays for medical purposes.
With the use of these it helped to discover bullets, broken bones, and other internal injuries. Marie
Curie's research and work have had a significant influence on modern medicine. Her research on
radioactivity has played an important part in the creation of nuclear energy, atomic bombs, and
cancer treatment. Her discoveries provided the foundation for all research work that shaped our
understanding and the direction of the field's ongoing research to this day.
