I sent back the cable that I’d bought.
He failed the exam because he hadn’t studied at all.
 Past Perfect Continuous
• Emphasise a continuous activity
He had a headache because he had been playing video games for
hours.
• Emphasise on how long something took
He had been working for many hours before he decided to go out for a
walk.
By the time I arrived at the party, my gf had been waiting for quite
sometime.
