Roles and Functions of School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Group
(SDRRMG)

a) Formulate and recommend comprehensive preventive


measures and response plan of the school during and after
the occurrence of any calamity;
b) Mobilize disaster action groups or teams in ensuring the
safety of students and personnel during and after the
damaging effects of the calamity;

c) Initiate the conduct of orientation seminars and


workshops, trainings or drills to prepare students and
personnel of any disaster or calamity; and
d) Perform such other functions to ensure safety of students
and personnel and to hasten the aftermath of disaster or
calamity.
Communication Committee (CC)

1. Notify key officials of the school, the personnel and the


students on the status of the situation using available
means of communication.
2. Inform and coordinate with concerned officers in cases of
fire, earthquake, floods, etc.;
3. Relay important information to different teams as directed
by the IC; and
4. Perform such other functions related to information
dissemination.
Medical Committee (MC)

1. Set up appropriate first aid at the designated evacuation


areas;
2. Attend to those who need first aid treatment;
3. Assist those needing medical treatment for immediate
transport to the nearest hospital; and
4. Perform such other functions related to medical.
Security Committee (SC)

1. See to it that no authorized persons/personnel loiter within


or outside the subject, building or structure during
emergency/conflagration;
2. Provide adequate number of security to prevent possible
looting; and
3. Perform such other functions related to security.
Transportation Committee (TC)

1. Takes charge of all mobilization procedures, provision of


vehicles and transport facilities as deemed necessary;
2. Determine the transportation needs and requirements;
3. Coordinate with counterpart transport team leaders and
local transport groups for resource sharing; and
4. Perform such other functions related to transportation
Education and Advocacy Committee (EAC)

1. Train and maintain pool of trainers on DRR;


2. Initiate programs and projects to enhance skills and
capabilities of teaching and non-teaching personnel on
disaster risk reduction;
3. Conduct researches and studies on disaster risk reduction,
the impact/effects of integration/mainstreaming programs
and projects in the curriculum
4. Conduct capability training of teachers and non-teaching
personnel on disaster risk management;
Education and Advocacy Committee (EAC)

5. Conduct information dissemination campaign on DRR


concepts and what to do before, during and after the
occurrence of hazards;
6. Serve as resource person during trainings, seminars and for
a relative to disaster risk management;
7. Provide learning modules and DRR materials to schools
and the public;
8. Conduct studies and researches on DRR and disseminates
results and recommend appropriate action; and
Relief and Evacuation (RE)

1. Coordinate with concerned agencies on the provision of


supplies and relief goods to evacuees;
2. Supervise relief operation, establish relief and supply in
the affected areas;
3. Make sure that all safe rooms and other facilities in school
are available before the impending threats occur or during
an emergency;
4. Consolidate list of recipients and supplies/relief goods still
needed by evacuees; and
Resource Management Committee (RMC)

1. Take charge of resource mobilization, allocation and


logistics support for the SDRRMG;
2. Coordinate and maintain an effective networking and
partnership with partners and donors to complement,
harmonize and synchronize all assistance and support
during emergency situation;
3. Perform such other functions related to resource
management.
