INDIAN KATHAKALI
Indian Kathakali
-Is probably the best-known
form of Indian dance-drama
all over the World.
-Kathakali was gradually
developed by master actors as
well as art connosseurs,
including rulers and learned
Brahmans.

Maharaja Kartika Tirunal

( 1758-1798 ) – wrote several
plays for kathakali and a
permanent palace.
THEMES :

- The themes of kathakali are Religious in

nature. They typically deal with the
Mahabarat, the Ramayana and the ancient
scriptures known as the Puranas.

- Is the most distinctive characteristic of

Kathakali. The makeup is very elaborate
and the costume are very large and heavy.
