HRFC - Those components that contribute to the development of fitness and health
and functional capacity of the body will be classified as health-related components.
Health-related components are first developed before the skill-related components.
Is understanding Body
Composition important?
• Body composition is not something you do, like 10 push-
ups or 50 sit-ups. Body composition is something you are,
but it has a lot to do with what you do.
• Your body is composed of two types of tissues: fat weight
and lean weight.
Fat weight is the fat stored in fat cells throughout the
body.
Lean weight includes all other tissues, such as organs,
bones, blood, skin, and muscle.
Is understanding Body
Composition important?
• As we age, we typically lose about five pounds of
muscle and add about 15 pounds of fat every
decade of life.
• More importantly, it results in a reduced metabolic
rate that facilitates fat gain.
• Assuming we eat approximately the same amount
of food, calories that were previously used for
muscle maintenance are now placed into fat
storage, resulting in creeping obesity.
Therefore,
• We have to be mindful of our Body Composition.
• We can determine this thru the computation of
Body Mass Index (BMI) or Waist-to-Hip Ratio
(WHR).
• We definitely would not want to be a part of the
obese data .
NOTE:
• Please understand the concept of BMI and WHR.
• You can help your family members to be also
mindful of their own BMI or WHR.
• This way you all prevent obesity and other types of
CVDs to creep into your family world .
• Love is not just said, but also shown. So do your
part, not just for the grade, but for love .
Thank you!
