WHAT IS TOTAL STATION?
• A total station is an electronic/optical instrument used in
modern surveying that uses electronic transit theodolite in conjunction
with electronic distance meter (EDM).It is also integrated with
microprocessor, electronic data collector and storage system.
• The instrument is used to measure sloping distance of object to the
instrument, horizontal angles and vertical angles.
• Data collected from total station can be downloaded into
computer/laptops for further processing of information.

• Handel: to carry the instrument physically
• Blue-tooth antenna :to communicate via Bluetooth wireless technology.
• External hatch: to connect external devices.
• Instrument height mark: to measure height of instrument
• Guide light :to carry out setting out measurements effectively.
• Laser –pointer function: to slight a target in dark location
• Trigger key: to carry out operation indicated by the soft key in bold type on the
screen.
• Sighting collimator :to aim in the direction of measurement point
