Peaceful creation before the entrance of
sin.
The need for the knowledge of God.
• John 17;3 Na uzima wa milele ndio huu, Wakujue
wewe, Mungu wa pekee wa kweli, na Yesu Kristo
uliyemtuma.
• The knowledge of God as revealed in Christ is the
knowledge that all who are saved must have. It is the
knowledge that works transformation of character.
This knowledge, received, will re-create the soul in
the image of God. It will impart to the whole being a
spiritual power that is divine. {8T 289.2}
Peace among the creatures as result of knowledge of God [Isa 11;7-9]

• 7 Ng'ombe na dubu watalisha pamoja; watoto wao


watalala pamoja; na simba atakula majani kama
ng'ombe.
• 8 Na mtoto anyonyaye atacheza penye tundu la

The danger of not understanding God’s character.
• Rom 10;3 Kwa maana, wakiwa hawaijui haki ya
Mungu, na wakitaka kuithibitisha haki yao
wenyewe, hawakujitia chini ya haki ya Mungu.
• John 16;2 Watawatenga na masinagogi; naam,
saa yaja atakapodhania kila mtu awauaye ya
kuwa anamtolea Mungu ibada.

Sinners have no knowledge of God and does not
see him.
1john 3;6 Kila akaaye ndani yake
hatendi dhambi; kila atendaye
dhambi hakumwona yeye, wala
hakumtambua.
Man was lead to sin by being deceived in
regard to God’s character.
• By the same misrepresentation of the character
of God as he had practiced in heaven, causing
Him to be regarded as severe and tyrannical,
Satan induced man to sin. And having succeeded
thus far, he declared that God's unjust
restrictions had led to man's fall, as they had led
to his own rebellion. {GC 500.2}

True disciples of Jesus follows him by understanding his love.

• It is not the fear of punishment, or the hope of


everlasting reward, that leads the disciples of
Christ to follow Him. They behold the Savior's
matchless love, revealed throughout His
pilgrimage on earth, from the manger of
Bethlehem to Calvary's cross, and the sight of
Him attracts, it softens and subdues the soul.
Love awakens in the heart of the beholders. They
hear His voice, and they follow Him. {DA 480.3}

Job reflecting the same love for God
• Job 13;15 though he slay me, yet will I trust n him;
but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
• Job loved God not because of the material blessings
he was receiving from Him. But because he
understood His love and that His ways were the only
righteous ways. That’s why he remained faithful even
after blessings were removed
Job’s love for God disputed by Satan.

• 8 Kisha Bwana akamwuliza Shetani, Je! Umemwangalia huyo


mtumishi wangu Ayubu? Kwa kuwa hapana mmoja aliye
kama yeye duniani, mtu mkamilifu na mwelekevu, mwenye
kumcha Mungu na kuepukana na uovu.
• 9 Ndipo Shetani akamjibu Bwana, na kusema, Je! Huyo
Ayubu yuamcha Bwana bure?
• 10 Wewe hukumzingira kwa ukigo pande zote, pamoja na
nyumba yake, na vitu vyote alivyo navyo? Kazi za mikono
yake umezibarikia, nayo mali yake imeongezeka katika nchi.
Job 1; 11 Lakini nyosha mkono wako sasa,
uyaguse hayo yote aliyo nayo, naye
atakukufuru mbele za uso wako
12 Bwana akamwambia Shetani, Tazama,
yote aliyo nayo yamo katika uwezo wako;

mwenyewe. Basi Shetani akatoka mbele za
uso wa Bwana.

• Job 2;3 Bwana akamwuliza Shetani, Je!
Umemwangalia huyo mtumishi wangu Ayubu?
Kwa kuwa hapana mmoja aliye kama yeye
duniani, mtu mkamilifu na mwelekevu, mwenye
kumcha Mungu na kuepukana na uovu; naye
hata sasa anashikamana na utimilifu wake,
ujapokuwa ulinichochea juu yake, ili
nimwangamize pasipokuwa na sababu.
• Job 2;4 Shetani akamjibu Bwana, na kusema,
Ngozi kwa ngozi, naam, yote aliyo nayo mtu
atayatoa kwa ajili ya uhai wake.
• 5 Lakini sasa nyosha mkono wako, uuguse
mfupa wake na nyama yake, naye atakukufuru
mbele za uso wako.
• 6 Bwana akamwambia Shetani, Tazama, yeye
yumo mkononi mwako; lakini tunza tu uhai
wake.
Points to note
• Those who overcomes Satan must have the unselfish
love of God. A love that’s not stimulated by reward,
for that is not true love but it is a business . Even
Satan knew that such a love God can not accept, and
that’s the reason why he accused Job of having it.
• God said that He was being moved by Satan to
destroy Job Job 2;3,. So God accepted the
responsibility, even though he was not acting directly
but only by permitting.
Even though God says he will do, can he really do
this?.↓ 2sam 12;11-12
• 11 Bwana asema hivi, Angalia,
nitakuondokeshea uovu katika nyumba yako,
nami nitawatwaa wake zako mbele ya macho
yako, na kumpa jirani yako, naye atalala na
wake zako mbele ya jua hili.
• 12 Maana wewe ulifanya jambo lile kwa siri;
bali mimi nitalifanya jambo hili mbele ya Israeli
wote na mbele ya jua.

• 21 Naye Ahithofeli akamwambia Absalomu, Ingia wewe
kwa masuria ya baba yako, hao aliowaacha ili kutunza
nyumba; na Israeli wote watasikia ya kuwa
umechukizwa kabisa na baba yako; ndipo itatiwa nguvu
mikono yao wote walio pamoja nawe.
• 22 Basi wakamtandikia Absalomu hema juu ya nyumba
darini; naye Absalomu akaingia kwa masuria ya babaye
machoni pa Israeli wote.
Katika kutimiza hili mungu aliruhusu tu likatedeka.
Maana Absalomu hakujawa na roho mtakatifu ila
alijawa na roho wa shetani.
God’s righteous character explained.
Mat 5; 45 ili mpate kuwa wana wa Baba yenu aliye
mbinguni; maana yeye huwaangazia jua lake waovu na
wema, huwanyeshea mvua wenye haki na wasio haki.
46 Maana mkiwapenda wanaowapenda ninyi mwapata
thawabu gani? Hata watoza ushuru, je! Nao hawafanyi
yayo hayo?
47 Tena mkiwaamkia ndugu zenu tu, mnatenda tendo gani
la ziada? Hata watu wa mataifa, je! Nao hawafanyi kama
hayo?
48 Basi ninyi mtakuwa wakamilifu, kama Baba yenu wa

Our duty to overcome evil with good like Jesus.

• Rom 12;20 Lakini, Adui yako akiwa na


njaa, mlishe; akiwa na kiu, mnyweshe;
maana ufanyapo hivyo, utampalia
makaa ya moto kichwani pake.
• 21 Usishindwe na ubaya, bali uushinde
ubaya kwa wema.
The light from the cross of Calvary.
• In order to be rightly understood and appreciated,
every truth in the Word of God, from Genesis to
Revelation, must be studied in the light that streams
from the cross of Calvary. I present before you the
great, grand monument of mercy and regeneration,
salvation and redemption--the Son of God uplifted on
the cross. This is to be the foundation of every
discourse given by our ministers. {Ev 190.1}
From the cross God’s attributes appears attractive.
• The mystery of the cross explains all other mysteries. In the
light that streams from Calvary, the attributes of God which
had filled us with fear and awe appear beautiful and
attractive. Mercy, tenderness, and parental love are seen to
blend with holiness, justice, and power. While we behold the
majesty of His throne, high and lifted up, we see His
character in His gracious manifestations, and comprehend,
as never before, the significance of that endearing title, "Our
Father." {AG 186.6}
Only Christ was able to review God’s true character.
• Taking humanity upon Him, Christ came to be one with
humanity, and at the same time to reveal our heavenly Father
to sinful human beings. He who had been in the presence of
the Father from the beginning, He who was the express
image of the invisible God, was alone able to reveal the
character of the Deity to mankind…. Tender, compassionate,
sympathetic, ever considerate of others, He represented the
character of God, and was constantly engaged in service for
God and man. Mh 422.2
Yesu ndiye alifunua ukweli kumhusu Baba.

kwa mkono wa Yesu Kristo.

Jesus character the same as Father’s character
• Had God the Father come to our world and dwelt
among us, humbling Himself, veiling His glory,
that humanity might look upon Him, the history
that we have of the life of Christ would not have
been changed. . . . In every act of Jesus, in every
lesson of His instruction, we are to see and hear
and recognize God. In sight, in hearing, in effect,
it is the voice and movements of the Father.
{TMK 338.4}
God is never changed by the circumstances .
1john 4;16 Nasi tumelifahamu pendo alilo nalo Mungu kwetu
sisi, na kuliamini. Mungu ni upendo, naye akaaye katika pendo,
hukaa ndani ya Mungu, na Mungu hukaa ndani yake.
"God is love." 1 John 4:16. His nature, His law, is love. It ever
has been; it ever will be. "The high and lofty One that inhabiteth
eternity," whose "ways are everlasting," changeth not. With
Him "is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." Isaiah
57:15; Habakkuk 3:6; James 1:17. {PP 33.1}
• He never pays evil with evil.
How sins are punished.
• God does not stand toward the sinner as an executioner of
the sentence against transgression; but He leaves the
rejectors of His mercy to themselves, to reap that which they
have sown………………… The destruction of Jerusalem is a
fearful and solemn warning to all who are trifling with the
offers of divine grace and resisting the pleadings of divine
mercy. Never was there given a more decisive testimony to
God's hatred of sin and to the certain punishment that will
fall upon the guilty. {GC 36.1}
How sinners are punished.
• We are not to regard God as waiting to punish the sinner for
his sin. The sinner brings the punishment upon himself.
His own actions start a train of circumstances that
bring the sure result. Every act of transgression reacts
upon the sinner, works in him a change of character,
and makes it more easy for him to transgress again.
By choosing to sin, men separate themselves from God, cut
themselves off from the channel of blessing, and the sure
result is ruin and death. {1SM 235.2}
Jesus stand as an example.
• It is a fearful thing for the unrepenting sinner to fall into the
hands of the living God. This is proved by the history of the
destruction of the old world by a flood, by the record of the
fire which fell from heaven and destroyed the inhabitants of
Sodom. But never was this proved to so great an extent as in
the agony of Christ, the Son of the infinite God, when He bore
the wrath of God for a sinful world. It was in consequence of
sin, the transgression of God's law, that the Garden of
Gethsemane has become pre-eminently the place of suffering
to a sinful world. No sorrow, no agony, can measure with that
which was endured by the Son of God. {5BC 1103.3}
God destroys no man.
• God destroys no man. Everyone who is
destroyed will have destroyed himself. Everyone
who stifles the admonitions of conscience is
sowing the seeds of unbelief, and these will
produce a sure harvest. By rejecting the first
warning from God, Pharaoh of old sowed the
seeds of obstinacy, and he reaped obstinacy.
[COL 84.4]
Sin by itself can cause death.
• Rom 6;23 Kwa maana mshahara wa dhambi ni mauti; bali
karama ya Mungu ni uzima wa milele katika Kristo Yesu Bwana
wetu.
• Gal 6;8 Maana yeye apandaye kwa mwili wake, katika mwili
wake atavuna uharibifu; bali yeye apandaye kwa Roho, katika
Roho atavuna uzima wa milele.

The heaviest burden that we bear is the burden of


sin. If we were left to bear this burden, it would crush us. But
the Sinless One has taken our place. "The Lord hath laid on Him
the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:6. {MH 71.3}
Sin will surely pay sinners their wages, Which is death. NO
ESCAPE.

• Numbers 32;23 Lakini kama hamtaki kufanya neno

Sin by destroying the sinner who is its host will destroy
itself.
James 1;14 Lakini kila mmoja hujaribiwa na tamaa yake mwenyewe
huku akivutwa na kudanganywa.
15 Halafu ile tamaa ikiisha kuchukua mimba huzaa d
hambi, na ile dhambi ikiisha kukomaa huzaa mauti.
Ni vipi dhambi huzaa mauti?.
Paslms 7;14 Tazama, huyu ana utungu wa uovu, Amechukua mimba
ya madhara, amezaa uongo.
15 Amechimba shimo, amelichimba chini sana, Akatumbukia katika
handaki aliyoifanya!
16 Madhara yake yatamrejea kichwani pake, Na dhuluma yake
itamshukia utosini.
Ni vipi dhambi huzaa mauti?.
• Psalms 9;15 Mataifa wamezama katika shimo walilolifanya;
Kwa wavu waliouficha imenaswa miguu yao.
• 16 Bwana amejidhihirisha na kutekeleza hukumu; Amemnasa
mdhalimu kwa kazi ya mikono yake.
• 17 Wadhalimu watarejea kuzimu, Naam, mataifa yote
wanaomsahau Mungu.
• That is how God executes judgment, by allowing those who
forget Him the result of their choices and actions.
What will destroy the wicked? Their sin or God?.

What will destroy the wicked? God or their
sins?
• Pro 5:22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and
he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
• 23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of
his folly he shall go astray.
• Pro 11; 19 Haki huelekea uzima; Afuataye maovu hufuata
mauti yake mwenyewe.

Death comes by or as a result sin.
• Rom 5;12 Kwa hiyo, kama kwa mtu mmoja dhambi
iliingia ulimwenguni, na kwa dhambi hiyo mauti; na
hivyo mauti ikawafikia watu wote kwa sababu wote
wamefanya dhambi.
• Rom 6;16 Hamjui ya kuwa kwake yeye ambaye
mnajitoa nafsi zenu kuwa watumwa wake katika
kumtii, mmekuwa watumwa wake yule mnayemtii,
kwamba ni utumishi wa dhambi uletao mauti, au
kwamba ni utumishi wa utii uletao haki.
A body of sin (carnal mind) by itself is body of death.
• Rom 7;5 Kwa maana tulipokuwa katika hali ya mwili,
tamaa za dhambi, zilizokuwako kwa sababu ya torati,
zilitenda kazi katika viungo vyetu hata mkaizalia mauti
mazao.
• 23 lakini katika viungo vyangu naona sheria iliyo
mbali, inapiga vita na ile sheria ya akili zangu, na
kunifanya mateka ya ile sheria ya dhambi iliyo katika
viungo vyangu.
• 24 Ole wangu, maskini mimi! Ni nani atakayeniokoa
na mwili huu wa mauti?
What Cht saw?
• Three times has He uttered that prayer. Three times
has humanity shrunk from the last, crowning sacrifice.
But now the history of the human race comes up
before the world's Redeemer. He sees that the
transgressors of the law, if left to themselves, must
perish.
• “He sees the helplessness of man. He sees the power of sin.
The woes and lamentations of a doomed world rise before
Him. He beholds its impending fate, and His decision is made.
{DA 690.3}

God is not happy with sinners death.
• Ezekiel 33;11 Waambie, Kama mimi niishivyo, asema Bwana
MUNGU, sikufurahii kufa kwake mtu mwovu; bali aghairi mtu
mwovu, na kuiacha njia yake mbaya, akaishi. Ghairini,
ghairini, mkaache njia zenu mbaya; mbona mnataka kufa,
Enyi nyumba ya Israeli?
• Mithali 8;36 Bali anikosaye hujidhuru nafsi yake mwenyewe,
Na wao wanichukiao hupenda mauti.
Kumchukia Mungu ni kujidhuru mwenyewe wala sio Mungu
mwenye kudhuru.
Sin causes God a great sufferings.
• Those who think of the result of hastening or hindering the
gospel think of it in relation to themselves and to the world.
Few think of its relation to God. Few give thought to the
suffering that sin has caused our Creator. All heaven suffered
in Christ's agony; but that suffering did not begin or end with
His manifestation in humanity. The cross is a revelation to our
dull senses of the pain that, from its very inception, sin has
brought to the heart of God. Every departure from the right,
every deed of cruelty, every failure of humanity to reach His
ideal, brings grief to Him. {Ed 263.1}
Sin brings sufferings, disease, and death but not by God’s hand.

• It is true that all suffering results from the


transgression of God's law, but this truth had become
perverted. Satan, the author of sin and all its results,
had led men to look upon disease and death as
proceeding from God,--as punishment arbitrarily
inflicted on account of sin. Hence one upon whom
some great affliction or calamity had fallen had the
additional burden of being regarded as a great sinner.
{DA 471.1}
How Jews were punished.
In the utter destruction that befell them as a nation, and in all
the woes that followed them in their dispersion, they were but
reaping the harvest which their own hands had sown. Says the
prophet, “O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself;” “for thou hast
fallen by thine iniquity.” [Hosea 13:9; 14:1.] Their sufferings are
often represented as a punishment visited upon them by the
direct decree of God. It is thus that the great deceiver seeks to
conceal his own work. By stubborn rejection of divine love and
mercy, the Jews had caused the protection of God to be
withdrawn from them, and Satan was permitted to rule them
according to his will. {GC 35.3}
The evils we see, where did they came from?.

• Christ never planted the seeds of death in the system. Satan


planted these seeds when he tempted Adam to eat of the tree
of knowledge which meant disobedience to God. Not one
noxious plant was placed in the Lord's great garden, but after
Adam and Eve sinned, poisonous herbs sprang up. In the
parable of the sower the question was asked the master, "Didst
not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it
tares?" The master answered, "An enemy hath done this"
(Matthew 13:27, 28). All tares are sown by the evil one. Every
noxious herb is of his sowing, and by his ingenious methods of
amalgamation he has corrupted the earth with tares. {2SM
288.2}
By amalgamation Satan introduced the evil.
• Every species of animals which God had created was
preserved in the ark. The confused species which God
did not create, which were the result of
amalgamation, were destroyed by the flood. Since the
flood, there has been amalgamation of man and
beast, as may be seen in the almost endless varieties
of species of animals, and in certain races of men.
{1SP 78.2}
Satan’s power in nature.
• In accidents and calamities by sea and by land, in great
conflagrations, in fierce tornadoes and terrific hail-storms, in
tempests, floods, cyclones, tidal waves, and earthquakes, in
every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is exercising his
power. He sweeps away the ripening harvest, and famine and
distress follow. He imparts to the air a deadly taint, and
thousands perish by the pestilence. These visitations are to
become more and more frequent and disastrous. Destruction
will be upon both man and beast. {GC88 589.3}
Even flowers died not, in the beginning.
• As they witnessed in drooping flower and falling leaf
the first signs of decay, Adam and his companion
mourned more deeply than men now mourn over
their dead. The death of the frail, delicate flowers was
indeed a cause of sorrow; but when the goodly trees
cast off their leaves, the scene brought vividly to mind
the stern fact that death is the portion of every living
thing. {PP 62.1}
Curse increased with time.
• The land has felt the curse, more and more
heavily. Before the Flood, the first leaf which fell,
and was discovered decaying upon the ground,
caused those who feared God great sorrow.
They mourned over it as we mourn over the loss
of a dead friend. In the decaying leaf they could
see an evidence of the curse, and of the decay of
nature {1BC 1085.7}
Curse increases as a result of succession of falls.
• Why is there so much misery in the world today? Is it because
God loves to see His creatures suffer?--Oh, no! It is because
men have become weakened by immoral practices. We
mourn over Adam's transgression, and seem to think that
our first parents showed great weakness in yielding to
temptation; but if Adam's transgression were the only evil
we had to meet, the condition of the world would be much
better than it is. There has been a succession of falls since
Adam's day. {Te 91.4}
This succession of falls can cause the race to be extinct.
• If Adam, at his creation, had not been endowed with
twenty times as much vital force as men now have,
the race, with their present habits of living in violation
of natural law, would have become extinct. At the
time of Christ's first advent, the race had degenerated
so rapidly that an accumulation of disease pressed
upon that generation, bringing in a tide of woe, and a
weight of misery inexpressible. {FE 22.2}
God is light.

God does not need to change in order to
punish the sinner. If without his grace He
allow them to follow their own ways, the race

OUR GOD, A CONSUMING FIRE.
• "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also
reap." Galatians 6:7. God destroys no man.
Every man who is destroyed will destroy himself.
When a man stifles the admonitions of
conscience, he sows the seeds of unbelief and
these produce a sure harvest.... {OHC 26.4}

• To sin, wherever found, "our God is a consuming fire."
Hebrews 12:29. In all who submit to His power the Spirit of
God will consume sin. But if men cling to sin, they become
identified with it. Then the glory of God, which destroys sin,
must destroy them. {FLB 176.9}
“Unquenchable Fire” is a Realization

“We read of chains of darkness for the transgressor of God's law. We


read of the worm that dieth not, and of the fire that is not quenched.
Thus is represented the experience of every one who has permitted
himself to be grafted into the stock of Satan, who has cherished sinful
attributes. When it is too late, he will see that sin is the transgression
of God's law. He will realize that because of transgression, his soul is
cut off from God, and that God's wrath abides on him. This is a fire
unquenchable, and by it every unrepentant sinner will be destroyed.
Satan strives constantly to lead men into sin, and he who is willing to
be led, who refuses to forsake his sins, and despises forgiveness and
grace, will suffer the result of his course. {ST, April 14, 1898 par. 13}
God’s glory reviewed as a consuming fire, yet harmless to vegetation.

• They were destroyed by their guilt conscience for the grace of
God was not with them.
Points to note
• The fire that came from the lord was not a common fire, but
the shekinah glory. When it covered them their sins
appeared great in contrast with God’s holiness. In guilty
conscience they were terror stricken and they died
hopelessly.
• The evidence of that is that their cloths were un touched by
the fire. And again all sinful men who had seen God’s glory
or meet an angel, would have died were they not comforted
by a message of peace. For sure guilty, anxiety, fear, terror,
etc, can cause an instant death. Think of Eli 1sam 4;18 his
death resulted from hearing a bad report.

Points to note.
• All these men experience a guilty of their sins which might
have lead to death. They were saved from death and
comforted message of peace and forgiveness.
• Suppose one of them died, it could have been reported that
the angel caused the death.
• God's righteous character in contrast with sin makes it to
appear exceeding sinful. That’s why no sinner can stand
before him. The same way the wicked people experience
guilty in the presence of somebody who is honorable and
righteous.
Christ coming with his Father’s glory.

God’s glory affects men differently.
• At the second advent of Christ the wicked shall be
consumed "with the Spirit of His mouth," and
destroyed "with the brightness of His coming." 2
Thessalonians 2:8. The light of the glory of God, which
imparts life to the righteous, will slay the wicked. {DA
107.4}
• → Christ presence will bring hope to righteous and
disappoint the wicked. His glory imparts life to the
righteous and cause death to the wicked. They are
affected according to their condition.
The facts explained by Paul using the law .
• Rom 7;9, Nami nalikuwa hai hapo kwanza bila sheria;
ila ilipokuja ile amri, dhambi ilihuika, nami nikafa.
• 10 Nikaona ile amri iletayo uzima ya kuwa kwangu

The presence of Christ causes guilty to sinners.
• In the time of John the Baptist, Christ was about
to appear as the revealer of the character of God.
His very presence would make manifest to men
their sin. Only as they were willing to be purged
from sin could they enter into fellowship with
Him. Only the pure in heart could abide in His
presence. {DA 108.1}
Sinners condition makes God’s presence a consuming fire to them.

• This is not an act of arbitrary power on the part


of God. The rejecters of His mercy reap that
which they have sown…... By a life of rebellion,
Satan and all who unite with him place
themselves so out of harmony with God that His
very presence is to them a consuming fire. The
glory of Him who is love will destroy them. {DA
764.1}
HEAVEN A SINNERS PLACE OF TORTURE.
The sinner could not be happy in God's presence; he would shrink from
the companionship of holy beings. Could he be permitted to enter
heaven, it would have no joy for him. The spirit of unselfish love that
reigns there --every heart responding to the heart of Infinite Love --would
touch no answering chord in his soul. His thoughts, his interests, his
motives, would be alien to those that actuate the sinless dwellers there.
He would be a discordant note in the melody of heaven. Heaven would be
to him a place of torture; he would long to be hidden from Him who is its
light, and the center of its joy. It is no arbitrary decree on the part of God
that excludes the wicked from heaven; they are shut out by their own
unfitness for its companionship. The glory of God would be to them a
consuming fire. They would welcome destruction, that they might be
hidden from the face of Him who died to redeem them. {SC 17.2}
Peace, purity, holiness, are sinners torture.
• A life of rebellion against God has unfitted them for
heaven. Its purity, holiness, and peace would be
torture to them; the glory of God would be a
consuming fire. They would long to flee from that holy
place. They would welcome destruction, that they
might be hidden from the face of Him who died to
redeem them. The destiny of the wicked is fixed by
their own choice. Their exclusion from heaven is
voluntary with themselves, and just and merciful on
the part of God. {GC 542.2}
Purity, peace, and harmony, are to Satan a supreme torture.

• Satan sees that his voluntary rebellion has unfitted


him for heaven. He has trained his powers to war
against God; the purity, peace, and harmony of
heaven would be to him supreme torture……… And
now Satan bows down and confesses the justice of his
sentence. {GC 670.2}
• → Satan has unfitted himself for a life of peace,
purity, and harmony. [how can he survive then?]
Points to note.
• 1, A fish outside the water dies because it is not
adapted to live in a open air, but not because there is
no life in air .
• 2, Man drown not because something is wrong with
water, but just because he is not adapted to live
therein for in the same water is life. So where man
survives fish dies where fish enjoys man die.
• 3, A sinner dies in presence of God’s glory for his
sinful mind is not adapted to be peaceful in His
presence not because that glory is harmful.
Moses reflecting God’s glory.
During that long time spent in communion with God, the face of
Moses had reflected the glory of the divine Presence; unknown to
himself his face shonen with a dazzling light when he descended
from the mountain….. They perceived in his voice nothing but love
and entreaty, and at last one ventured to approach him. Too
awed to speak, he silently pointed to the countenance of Moses,
and then toward heaven. The great leader understood his
meaning. In their conscious guilt, feeling themselves still under
the divine displeasure, they could not endure the heavenly light,
which, had they been obedient to God, would have filled them
with joy. There is fear in guilt. The soul that is free from sin will
not wish to hide from the light of heaven. {PP 329.5}
Christ is still humble like a lamb, yet they are terrified by his
presence.

They hide from Jesus.
• Then Jesus and all the retinue of holy angels, and all the
redeemed saints, left the city. The angels surrounded their
Commander and escorted Him on His way, and the train of
redeemed saints followed. Then, in terrible, fearful majesty,
Jesus called forth the wicked dead; and they came up with
the same feeble, sickly bodies that went into the grave…..!
The kings and noblemen of the earth, the mean and low, the
learned and unlearned, come forth together. All behold the
Son of man;….. And then there arises one long protracted
wail of agony, as they flee to hide from the presence of the
King of kings and Lord of lords. {EW 292.1}
Jesus is harmless.
• Heb 7:26 For such an high priest
became us, [who is] holy, harmless,
undefiled, separate from sinners, and
made higher than the heavens;
His followers are to be harmless.
• Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and
harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the
midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among
whom ye shine as lights in the world;
• Math 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep
in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as
serpents, and harmless as doves.
JESUS AND THE NATURE OF JUDGEMENT.

Jesus came for the judgment.

How judgment then resulted.

Christ never accuses.
• Juda 9 Lakini Mikaeli, malaika mkuu,
aliposhindana na Ibilisi, na kuhojiana

kumlaumu, bali alisema, Bwana na
akukemee.
The principle of accusing originated with Satan.
• Rev 12;10 Nikasikia sauti kuu mbinguni, ikisema,
Sasa kumekuwa wokovu, na nguvu, na ufalme
wa Mungu wetu, na mamlaka ya Kristo wake;
kwa maana ametupwa chini mshitaki wa ndugu
zetu, yeye awashitakiye mbele za Mungu wetu,
mchana na usiku
Accusing principle belongs to Satan.
• When those who are in God’s service resort to
accusation, they are adopting Satan’s principles to cast
out Satan. It never will work. Satan will work. He is
working upon human minds by his crooked principles.
These will be adopted and acted upon by those who
claim to be loyal and true to God’s government. How
shall we know that they are untrue, disloyal? “By their
fruits ye shall know them.” {CTr 14.2}
Satan’s principle turned against himself.
• The Lord saw the use that Satan was making of his
power, and he set before him truth in contrast with
falsehood. Time and time again during the controversy
Satan was ready to be convinced, ready to admit that
he was wrong. But those he had deceived were ready
also to accuse him of leaving them. What could he do--
submit to God, or continue in a course of deception?
He chose to deny truth, to take refuge in
misstatements and fraud. {18MR 362.1}
Points to note.
• Satan trained his angels to accuse as he was trying to excuse
himself and make God and the faithful angels to appear as
the cause of all the evils.
• Afterwards he was convinced that he was wrong. He was
ready to change his course. But the angels he deceived were
ready to use the weapon he had given them against him.
They were ready to excuse themselves and accuse him. His
burden was great.
• All the sinful ways will turn against the sinner himself.
Christ and the destruction of Satan.
• Heb 2;14 Basi, kwa kuwa watoto wameshiriki
damu na mwili, yeye naye vivyo hivyo alishiriki
yayo hayo, ili kwa njia ya mauti amharibu yeye
aliyekuwa na nguvu za mauti, yaani, Ibilisi,

Satan defeated his own purposes.
• John 12;31 Sasa hukumu ya ulimwengu huu ipo; sasa mkuu
wa ulimwengu huu atatupwa nje.
‘’By causing the death of the Sovereign of heaven, Satan
defeated his own purposes. The death of the Son of God made
the death of Satan unavoidable. Satan was allowed to go on
until his administration was laid open before the worlds
unfallen and before the heavenly universe. By shedding the
blood of the Son of God, he uprooted himself [from sympathy],
and was seen by all to be a liar, a thief, and a murderer. {CTr
14.5}
Satan overthrew himself.
Satan is the author of death. What did Christ do after He
brought Satan under the dominion of death? The very
last words of Christ while expiring on the cross were “It
is finished” (John 19:30). The devil saw that he had
overdone himself. Christ by dying accomplished the
death of Satan and brought immortality to light. {CTr
287.3}
Satan is counted as died for his death sentence was
passed; and one day God will not save him from it.
Satan’s principles are potential for his destruction..

• At the beginning of the great controversy, the angels


did not understand this. Had Satan and his host then
been left to reap the full result of their sin, they would
have perished; but it would not have been apparent to
heavenly beings that this was the inevitable result of
sin. A doubt of God's goodness would have remained
in their minds as evil seed, to produce its deadly fruit
of sin and woe. {DA 764.2}
SECORD DEATH AND THE LAKE OF FIRE.

The second resurrection.
• In consequence of Adam's sin, death passed upon the whole
human race. All alike go down into the grave. And through
the provisions of the plan of salvation, all are to be brought
forth from their graves. "There shall be a resurrection of the
dead, both of the just and unjust;" "for as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ shall all be made alive." Acts 24:15; 1
Corinthians 15:22. [GC 544.2]
• All men will be resurrected for Christ bought resurrection for
them. But for they rejected him he does not rule over them he
leaves them alone.
Due to their evil character they prepare for
war.
• Satan succeeds in deceiving them, and all immediately begin
to prepare themselves for battle. There are many skillful
men in that vast army, and they construct all kinds of
implements of war. Then with Satan at their head, the
multitude move on. Kings and warriors follow close after
Satan, and the multitude follow after in companies. Each
company has its leader, and order is observed as they march
over the broken surface of the earth to the Holy City. [EW
294.1]
Sinners turn against each other.
• Notwithstanding that Satan has been constrained to
acknowledge God's justice and to bow to the supremacy of
Christ, his character remains unchanged……. He rushes into the
midst of his subjects and endeavors to inspire them with his own
fury and arouse them to instant battle. But of all the countless
millions whom he has allured into rebellion, there are none now
to acknowledge his supremacy.. His power is at an end The
wicked are filled with the same hatred of God that inspires
Satan; but they see that their case is hopeless, that they cannot
prevail against Jehovah. Their rage is kindled against Satan and
those who have been his agents in deception, and with the fury
of demons they turn upon them. {GC 671.2}
Satan left to reap what he sowed.
• At the beginning of the great controversy, the
angels did not understand this. Had Satan and his
host then been left to reap the full result of their
sin, they would have perished; but it would not
have been apparent to heavenly beings that this
was the inevitable result of sin. A doubt of God's
goodness would have remained in their minds as
evil seed, to produce its deadly fruit of sin and
woe. {DA 764.2}
Satan left to reap the full result of his sin.
• Eze 28;18 Kwa wingi wa maovu yako, katika uovu wa
uchuuzi wako, umepatia unajisi patakatifu pako; basi
nimetokeza moto kutoka ndani yako, nao umekuteketeza,
nami nimekufanya kuwa majivu juu ya nchi, machoni pa
watu wote wakutazamao.
• 7 basi, tazama, nitaleta wageni juu yako, watu wa mataifa
wenye kutisha; nao watafuta panga zao juu ya uzuri wa
hekima yako, nao watautia uchafu mwangaza wako.
• 8 Watakushusha hata shimoni; nawe utakufa kifo chao
waliouawa kati ya bahari.
Fire from God out of heaven.
• Fire comes down from God out of heaven. The earth is broken
up. The weapons concealed in its depths are drawn forth.
Devouring flames burst from every yawning chasm. The very
rocks are on fire. The day has come that shall burn as an
oven. The elements melt with fervent heat, the earth also,
and the works that are therein are burned up. Malachi 4:1; 2
Peter 3:10. The earth's surface seems one molten mass--a
vast, seething lake of fire. It is the time of the judgment and
perdition of ungodly men. [GC 672.2]
Note that God is not in heaven, but in Jerusalem so he is not
sending fire directly.
• Satan seems paralyzed as he beholds the glory and majesty
of Christ. He who was once a covering cherub remembers
whence he has fallen. A shining seraph, "son of the
morning;" how changed, how degraded! From the council
where once he was honored, he is forever excluded. He sees
another now standing near to the Father, veiling His glory.
He has seen the crown placed upon the head of Christ by an
angel of lofty stature and majestic presence, and he knows
that the exalted position of this angel might have been his.
{DD 56.2}
Points to note.
• God is punishing sinners according to His righteous
character. He does not pay evil with evil. But because
sinners rejected him and they can not endure his
presence, so he leaves them under Satan their king.
• Then Satan’s kingdom without God’s protection will
not be able to sustain itself. They turn against each
other. And even the forces of nature without God’s
direction turns to be destructive.
• The Second death can well be understood when
studied from the light of Calvary.
The sword of justice. Revealed from the cross.
• The agony which Christ endured, broadens, deepens, and
gives a more extended conception of the character of sin, and
the character of the retribution which God will bring upon
those who continue in sin. {AG 168.4}
• The sword of justice was unsheathed, and the wrath of
God against iniquity rested upon man's substitute, Jesus
Christ, the only begotten of the Father. {AG 168.5}
God withdrew from Christ.
• -Could mortals view the amazement and sorrow
of the angels as they watched in silent grief the
Father separating His beams of light, love, and
glory, from His Son, they would better understand
how offensive is sin in His sight. As the Son of God
in the Garden of Gethsemane bowed in the
attitude of prayer, the agony of His Spirit forced
from His pores sweat like great drops of blood.

Father’s frown.
• The divine light of God was receding from
His vision, and He was passing into the
hands of the powers of darkness. In the
agony of His soul He lay prostrate on the
cold earth. He was realizing His Father's
frown. [5BC 1124.3]
Cause of Death More than Physical Factors
• The wages of sin is death and Jesus must have demonstrated this on
the cross.
• Jesus’ death is a type of the final death of the wicked.

“The mystery of the cross explains all other mysteries. In the light that
streams from Calvary, the attributes of God which had filled us with fear
and awe appear beautiful and attractive. …we see his character in its
gracious manifestations, and comprehend, as never before, the
significance of that endearing title, our Father.” {GC88 652.1}
Christ died not from the bodily pain
• But bodily pain was but a small part of the agony of God's dear Son. The sins of
the world were upon Him, also the sense of His Father's wrath as He suffered the
penalty of the law transgressed. It was these that crushed His divine soul. It was
the hiding of His Father's face--a sense that His own dear Father had forsaken
Him--which brought despair. The separation that sin makes between God and man
was fully realized and keenly felt by the innocent, suffering Man of Calvary. He
was oppressed by the powers of darkness. He had not one ray of light to brighten
the future. And He was struggling with the power of Satan, who was declaring
that he had Christ in his power, that he was superior in strength to the Son of God,
that the Father had disowned His Son, and that He was no longer in the favor of
God any more than himself. If He was indeed still in favor with God, why need He
die? God could save Him from death. {2T 214.2}
Cause of Death More than Physical Factors

We must derive all our understandings from the


cross. Note the following sequence:

“…he bore the guilt and shame of sin, and the


hiding of his Father's face, till the woes of a lost
world broke his heart, and crushed out his life on
Calvary's cross….” {GC88 651.2}
The Burden of Sin=Crushing Despair
“Christ felt the woe that sinners will feel when they
awake to realize the burden of their guilt, to know that
they have forever separated themselves from the joy
and peace of Heaven. {SJ 145.2}
 
“Calvary alone can reveal the terrible enormity of sin. If
we had to bear our own guilt, it would crush us.” MB
116
 
Christ would have died in gethsemane
• "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from
me:" but if there is no other way by which the
salvation of fallen man may be accomplished, then
"not as I will, but as thou wilt." Human nature would
then and there have died under the horror of the sense
of sin, had not an angel from heaven strengthened
Him to bear the agony. {5BC 1103.1}
• → Note that he was strengthened to suffer the full
penalty of human sins.
Different capacity for suffering.
• Human nature can endure but a limited amount of test and
trial. The finite can only endure the finite measure, and
human nature succumbs; but the nature of Christ had a
greater capacity for suffering; for the human existed in the
divine nature, and created a capacity for suffering to endure
that which resulted from the sins of a lost world. The agony
which Christ endured, broadens, deepens, and gives a more
extended conception of the character of sin, and the
character of the retribution which God will bring upon those
who continue in sin. [5BC 1103.4]
Those who have been near God will suffer more keenly.

• The human nature of Christ was like unto ours, and suffering
was more keenly felt by Him; for His spiritual nature was
free from every taint of sin. Therefore His desire for the
removal of suffering was stronger than human beings can
experience. How intense was the desire of the humanity of
Christ to escape the displeasure of an offended God, how His
soul longed for relief, is revealed in the words, "O my Father,
if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy
will be done." {5BC 1103.8}
HE GAVE HIS LIFE
John 10:15, 17, 18: Jesus “lays down” His life;
has power to take it up again.
• Mark, Luke, John: He “gave up the ghost.”
• Exact moment to die chosen: Passover
Sacrifice.
• Cried with vigor: “Father, into thy hands I
commend my spirit.”
“Unquenchable Fire” is a Realization
“We read of chains of darkness for the transgressor of God's law. We
read of the worm that dieth not, and of the fire that is not quenched.
Thus is represented the experience of every one who has permitted
himself to be grafted into the stock of Satan, who has cherished sinful
attributes. When it is too late, he will see that sin is the transgression
of God's law. He will realize that because of transgression, his soul is
cut off from God, and that God's wrath abides on him. This is a fire
unquenchable, and by it every unrepentant sinner will be destroyed.
Satan strives constantly to lead men into sin, and he who is willing to
be led, who refuses to forsake his sins, and despises forgiveness and
grace, will suffer the result of his course. {ST, April 14, 1898 par. 13}
Then sinners will choose death rather than life.

Jer. 8:3, Na kufa kutachaguliwa kuliko kuishi na

Points to note.
• Christ died to demonstrate to all the intelligent beings
the result of sin to warn them.
• He had a great capacity for suffering for he lived near
God and he was not willing to be separated from Him.
He was strengthened, thus suffering for a long time.
• Remember even sinners who will perish having great
light will be more guilty. They will have great capacity
for suffering, for they know very well what they have
lost. They will suffer long because they will not be
willing to die, and they will be the strongest.
The plagues of Egypt .
• Psalms 78:46 He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar,
and their labour unto the locust.
• 47 He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore
trees with frost.
• 48 He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks
to hot thunderbolts.
• 49 He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath,
and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels [among
them].
Not direct from God.
• I was shown that the judgments of God would not come
directly out from the Lord upon them, but in this way: They
place themselves beyond His protection. He warns,
corrects, reproves, and points out the only path of safety;
then, if those who have been the objects of His special care
will follow their own course, independent of the Spirit of
God, after repeated warnings, if they choose their own
way, then He does not commission His angels to prevent
Satan's decided attacks upon them. {LDE 242.1}
Undanganyifu wa mwisho.
• Rev 16;13 Nikaona roho tatu za uchafu zilizofanana na vyura,
zikitoka katika kinywa cha yule joka, na katika kinywa cha
yule mnyama, na katika kinywa cha yule nabii wa uongo.

Satan personate Christ .
• As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will
personate Christ…
• The shout of triumph rings out upon the air: "Christ has come! Christ has
come!" The people prostrate themselves in adoration before him, while he
lifts up his hands and pronounces a blessing upon them, as Christ blessed
His disciples when He was upon the earth. His voice is soft and subdued,
yet full of melody. In gentle, compassionate tones he presents some of
the same gracious, heavenly truths which the Saviour uttered; he heals
the diseases of the people, and then, in his assumed character of Christ,
he claims to have changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and commands all to
hallow the day which he has blessed. He declares that those who persist
in keeping holy the seventh day are blaspheming his name by refusing to
listen to his angels sent to them with light and truth. This is the strong,
almost overmastering delusion [GC 624.2]
HE UNITES ALL UNDER PAPACY.

The universal death decree. [UDD]
• As the time appointed in the decree draws
near, the people will conspire to root out
the hated sect. It will be determined to
strike in one night a decisive blow, which
shall utterly silence the voice of dissent and
reproof. {GC 635.1}
3,The voice of God.
• By the people of God a voice, clear and melodious, is heard, saying, "Look
up," and lifting their eyes to the heavens, they behold the bow of promise.
The black, angry clouds that covered the firmament are parted, and like
Stephen they look up steadfastly into heaven and see the glory of God and
the Son of man seated upon His throne. In His divine form they discern the
marks of His humiliation; and from His lips they hear the request presented
before His Father and the holy angels: "I will that they also, whom Thou hast
given Me, be with Me where I am." John 17:24. Again a voice, musical and
triumphant, is heard, saying: "They come! they come! holy, harmless, and
undefiled. They have kept the word of My patience; they shall walk among
the angels;" and the pale, quivering lips of those who have held fast their
faith utter a shout of victory. {GC 636.1}

• Ooh, what a wonderful scene my dear brethren.


Babylon remembered.
• There is heard the shriek of a hurricane like the voice of
demons upon a mission of destruction. The whole earth
heaves and swells like the waves of the sea. Its surface is
breaking up. Its very foundations seem to be giving way.
Mountain chains are sinking. Inhabited islands disappear.
The seaports that have become like Sodom for wickedness
are swallowed up by the angry waters. Babylon the great
has come in remembrance before God, "to give unto her
the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath." Great
hailstones, every one "about the weight of a talent," are
doing their work of destruction. [GC 636.3]
Babylon divided in three parts.

4,The destroyers are destroyed.
• After the saints had been delivered
by the voice of God, the wicked
multitude turned their rage upon
one another. The earth seemed to
be deluged with blood, and dead
bodies were from one end of it to
the other. {EW 289.3}
Destroyers destroyed.
• "We are lost!" they cry, "and you are the cause of our
ruin;" and they turn upon the false shepherds. The
very ones that once admired them most will
pronounce the most dreadful curses upon them. The
very hands that once crowned them with laurels will
be raised for their destruction. The swords which were
to slay God's people are now employed to destroy
their enemies. Everywhere there is strife and
bloodshed. {GC 655.4}

The beast and the false prophet are the first to be cast
into the lake of fire.
• Rev 19;20 Yule mnyama akakamatwa, na yule nabii wa
uongo pamoja naye, yeye aliyezifanya hizo ishara
mbele yake, ambazo kwa hizo aliwadanganya watu
wale walioipokea ile chapa ya huyo mnyama, nao

• Men and Angels were lead to sin by being deceived in regard to
God’s character, Thus the great controversy began.
• The great controversy will be ended by revealing God’s true
character.
• Rebellion was not to be overcome by force. Compelling power is
found only under Satan's government. DA 759.1
• Great controversy is not about who is powerful, but who is right. So
God will overcome by revealing his righteousness.
• Only Christ who is the express image of God could reveal God’s
true character.
• True disciples of Jesus follows him by understanding and
appreciating his love.
The study summarized.
• Sin by itself will destroy the sinner for the wages of sin is
death.
• God created and sustains the universe by His word. So any
intelligent being who rejects the word, places himself where
God can’t help or sustain him.
• God’s perfect law, the transcript of his character [explains the
way He works] can not be changed or be modified to meet
the sinner in his condition.
• God will allow sinners to reap their own sowing even though
it will be very painful to both parties.
