PARTIAL DENTURE FRAMEWORK ADJUSTMENT

Rudd and Kuebker

• 75% of the frameworks don’t fit perfectly
• Active – leads to orthodontic movement
• Adjustments needed to make it passive
EXAMINATION OF THE FRAMEWORK

Examine framework carefully upon its return from the

laboratory.

Check whether design has been closely followed.

1) Has major connector been positioned as requested?

2) Are finish lines for acrylic denture bases properly positioned?
3) Have the required rests been included?
4) Are the designated clasp assemblies present and complete?
5) Do the retentive arm clasps display appropriate size, shapes, and
positions?
DOES THE FRAMEWORK FIT THE MASTER CAST
ACCURATELY?

A properly constructed
framework should fit the master
cast tightly.
CHECK THE ACCURACY OF FRAMEWORK AS
DESIGNED
RESTS MUST BE COMPLETELY PLACED IN
CORRESPONDING REST SEATS
LINGUAL PLATE SHOULD BE CLOSELY ADAPTED
TO THE SURFACE OF THE CAST
TISSUE SURFACE OF FRAMEWORK SHOULD EXHIBIT FINE
MATTE TEXTURE. SURFACE SHOULDN’T BE HIGHLY POLISHED.
EXTERNAL SURFACE OF FRAMEWORK SHOULD BE EXTREMELY
SMOOTH AND SHOULD BE POLISHED TO A HIGH SHINE
All surfaces should be checked for nodules Internal finish lines should be sharply
which may produce discomfort and prevent designed.
complete seating of the framework.
External finish lines should be sharply defined and slightly undercut
to permit improved retention of acrylic resin denture bases
Finger pressure should be applied to both sides of the framework
simultaneously. The framework should be rigid enough to resist flexure.
