◉ En un sistema fiduciario, la oferta monetaria está determinada
primordialmente por la política gubernamental.
◉ Hasta la llegada del dinero fiduciario, la mayoría de los aumentos de la
oferta monetaria tenían poco que ver con políticas estatales
◉ La mayoría de los países tienen una institución oficial, generalmente el
banco central, que detenta (ejerce) la autoridad legal de emitir dinero. En
Estados Unidos, el banco central es la FED

Cómo opera el banco central

El banco central de cada país puede determinar la

oferta de dinero de alto poder expansivo, esto es, los
billetes y las monedas que circulan en la economía,
junto con las reservas que mantienen los bancos en el
banco central.
