NETWORK ANALYSIS

INTRODUCTION-UNIT-I
O Network Analysis is a process by which we can
calculate different electrical parameters of a circuit
element connected in an electrical network.
O An electrical circuit or network can be complicated
too and in a complicated network, we have to apply
different methods to simplify the network for
determining the electrical parameters.
O The circuit elements in a network can be connected
in different manners, some of them are in series
and some of them in parallel.
O The circuit elements are resistors, capacitors,
inductors, voltage sources, current sources etc.
O Current, voltage, resistance, impedance, reactance,
inductance, capacitance, frequency, electric power,
electrical energy etc are the different electrical
parameters we determine by network analysis.
O In short, we can say, an electrical network is the
combination of different circuit elements and the
network analysis or circuit analysis is the technique
to determine the different electrical parameters of
those circuit elements
THEOREMS INTRODUCTION
O Electric circuit theorems are always
beneficial to help find voltage and currents
in multi-loop circuits.
O These theorems use fundamental rules or
formulas and basic equations of
mathematics to analyze basic components
of electrical or electronics parameters such
as voltages, currents, resistance, and so on.
O These fundamental theorems include the
basic theorems like Superposition theorem,
O Tellegen’s theorem,
O Norton’s theorem,
O Maximum power transfer theorem, and
O Thevenin’s theorems.
O Another group of network theorems
that are mostly used in the circuit
analysis process includes the
O Compensation theorem,
O Substitution theorem,
O Reciprocity theorem,
O Milliman’s theorem, and
O Miller’s theorem.
TRANSIENT ANALYSIS-UNIT-II
O Transient is which will not last for
longtime/impermanent.
O Transients occur in the response due to
sudden change in the sources that are
applied to the electric circuit and / or due
to switching action.
O The transient part occurs in the response
of an electrical circuit or network due to
the presence of energy storing elements
such as inductor and capacitor.
NETWORK TOPOLOGY-UNIT-III
O For large scale networks particularly
modern electronic circuits such as
integrated circuits and microcircuits with a
larger number of interconnected branches,
O It is almost impossible to write a set of
linearly independent equations by
inspection or by mere intuition.
O The problem becomes quite difficult and
complex
O A systematic and step by step method is
therefore required to deal with such
networks.
O Network topology (graph theory approach)
is used for this purpose.
O By this method, a set of linearly
independent loop or node equations can be
written in a form that is suitable for a
computer solution.
TWO PORT NETWORKS-UNIT-IV
THREE PHASE CIRCUITS-UNIT-V

Circuit or system in which AC sources

operate at the same frequency but
different phases are known as
polyphase.
Circuits with more than two phases is
known as polyphase system
