AVAR views Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) as a true core value. We are uncompromising to the health and safety of our
employees and the environment. We realize that excellence in EHS is compatible with excellence in our other business disciplines
such as quality, productivity, profitability, and customer service; they are mutually supportive. Providing an environmentally
friendly, safe and healthy workplace allows employees to have a positive impact on our operations, customers, and enhances

Will be the same for entire company
Will be grouped into themes by month.
◦ i.e.: Heat Illness will be entire month of March.
Fire safety & hot work will be month of July.
Will cover OSHA required topics and be part of annual training requirements.
Will be performed weekly.
◦ If you miss work on Monday then ask your foreman to review the Weekly Toolbox Talk on your first day
back to work.
Talk will be given by jobsite foreman.
2. Daily Job Hazard Analysis
Replaces the Pre Task Plan you have been currently reviewing daily with your foremen.
To be completed each day at the start of shift.
To be completed by jobsite employee designated by the jobsite foreman.
The employee will know at least the day before that they are to present the Daily Job Hazard
Analysis.
Employee to be given template to use when presenting the Daily Job Hazard Analysis.
3. Stretch & Flex
XX% of our injuries were back / soft tissue injuries
At the start of every shift the crew will perform Stretch & Flex.
The Stretch & Flex will be led by an employee designated by the foreman.
◦ The employee will be informed they need to lead Stretch & Flex at least one day beforehand.

The Stretch & Flex will occur at the same time as the Daily Job Hazard Analysis.
The crew will watch the Stretch & Flex leader and copy their movements.
4. Weekly Jobsite Inspections
Performed Wednesday of every week.
Performed by an employee designated by the foreman.
◦ The employee will be informed they need to lead Stretch & Flex at least one day beforehand.

The foreman will perform the inspection with the employee.


The employee is expected to note any deficiencies including any deficiencies on the part of the
foreman.
5. Weekly Equipment Inspections
Performed Monday or the FIRST day of the job.
To be performed by the person USING the equipment.
It is your way to communicate any developing problems with the shop.
6. New Glove Policy
100% Gloves when working!
Providing MaxiFlex gloves
◦ Very good with grease
◦ Cut level 2
◦ $7/each
HART HATS
New Employee accidents are XX% of all
accidents
New Employees to wear Yellow Hard Hats
for first 3 months at AVAR.
GLASSES
Providing all new anti fog safety glasses.
◦ $11/each
◦ NOT Disposable
