From childhood Grinchenko studied
Ukrainian folklore, was interested in the
culture of folk customs and rituals, the
perfection of the harmony of Ukrainian
song. Throughout his life he collected
and published folk tales, songs, fairy
tales, organized their collection, edited
ethnographic collections, compiled
indexes to folklore works. This gave
him a lot of material, in particular, for
compiling a Dictionary of the Ukrainian
language and writing research papers on
folklore.
Folklore activity
~collecting samples of folk art in the Chernihiv province, involving
collectors in this work in different regions;
~processing and systematization of collected materials, arrangement of
ethnographic collections;
~publication of separate collections of folklore material for folk reading;
~work on arranging the museum of Ukrainian antiquities of Tarnowski.
