• Habit 1 is based on the four unique
endowments of imagination, conscience,
independent will, and particularly self-
awareness
• Habit 2 is based on imagination and
conscience

4
Habit 3 is the exercise of
INDEPENDENT WILL
The fruit of habit 1 & 2

7
• First Generation of Time Management
based on notes and checklists

8
• Managing from 1st Generation Paradigm
– Fun to “go with the flow.”
– People sensed that they are not responsible
for results

9
Third Generation of Time Management adds
prioritization, relative worth, specific goals, etc.

10
Third Generation much better:
Still lacks focus on vision.
Does not balance roles
Tendency to overschedule.

• Those bigger, usually not many, are but the
more important ones.
• They play significant roles in our lives
analogous to the big rocks as shown.

18
19
• That is why, (in Habit #2) we are to first figure
out what our lives are about.
• Then we move on to define our personal mission
statement,
• So that we would have a philosophical basis to
get a clear idea of the really important things in
our lives.

20
21
• we can begin to prioritise our 1st things.
• only When we know well enough what,
or who deserves the best of our time,
• We prevent “Fillers” from occupying us.

22
OTHERWISE,

Often depriving us of
those which are important

23
Means putting in the big rocks 1st ~

(finding time for the most

important things 1st)
