WHAT IS DIGITAL TWIN TECHNOLOGY
HISTORY
Digital twin can be broken down into three broad types, which show
the different times when the process can be used:
product is created
operating parameters
5
6
Internet of things (IOT) :
IoT is based on the collection of data acquired from real-world
objects with the help of sensors. These data are then used to
create a digital duplicate of the physical object that can be
analyzed, manipulated, and optimized. IoT helps a Digital Twin
applications to connects a virtual representation with a physical
object in real time, keeping it constantly updated.
7
Extended reality xr
It is the visualization technology which creates digital
representations of objects. XR capabilities enable Digital Twins to
digitally model physical objects, allowing users to interact with
digital content.
8
Cloud computing :
technology is used for efficient storing and
accessing data over the Internet. As applications of
Digital Twins operate with large volumes of data,
cloud computing allows to store all data in the
virtual cloud and easily access required
information from any location.
9
Artificial intelligence :
is an advanced analytical tool that is able to
automatically analyze obtained data and provide
valuable insights. It can also make predications
about possible outcomes and give suggestions as
to how to avoid potential problems.
10
How to design digital twins
This technology can include an interface between the
Data
Linking
The findings from digital twins can be linked to create an overview, such as by taking
the findings of equipment twins and putting them into a production line twin, which
can then inform a factory-scale digital twin. By using linked digital twins in this way it
is possible to enable smart industrial applications for real world operational
developments and improvements.

WHAT’S THE NEED..

IMPACT OF DIGITAL TWIN IN
INDUSTRY
twin allows industry to anticipate downtime, react to changing circumstances, test design
Digital twin is key to the development of Industry 4.0 to provide automation, data
exchange and
are able to monitor operations in real time, providing prior alerts of possible failures and
allowing for real time performance optimisation and assessment with minimal loss of
productivity. 14
examples
❖ Even modi used this sort of technology
during 2014 elections where virtual 3d
hologram of pm modi participated in
campaigns simultaneously at different places
,so that people feel that modi is really
arrived their place
15
Benefits or advantages of Digital Twin
Industry can monitor constant stream of usage and performance data in real
time.
Digital twins help to accelerate medical innovation. Digital twins are helping in research
of tumours and development of new drugs.
These tools help doctors accurately optimize peformance of patient specific treatment
plans.
By creating digital twin of a hospital, one can observe potential changes in operational
strategy, capacities, staffing and care delivery models.

applications
Manufacture
Digital twins can make manufacturing more productive and streamlined while reducing throughput
times
.
retail
to model and augment the customer experience at the level of a shopping centre.
Healthcare
The medical sector has benefitted from digital twin in areas such as organ donation,
surgery training
automotive
to gather and analyse operational data from a vehicle in order to assess its status in real
time and inform product improvements.
