What is a SEQUENCE?
•Set of numbers that contain
pattern.
•A sequence is a function whose
domain is the finite set {1, 2, 3,…,
n} or the infinite set {1, 2, 3,… }.
 Finite- may katapusan, kayang bilangin
 {1, 2, 3,…, n}
 A = {2, 4, 6, 8, 10}

 Infinite- walang katapusan, hindi kayang

bilangin.
 {1, 2, 3,… }
 W = {0, 1, 2, 3, ……..}
 Arithmetic Sequence

An arithmetic sequence is a sequence where every term after the first is obtained
by adding a constant called the common difference.

EXAMPLES:
•1, 4, 7, 10, ......
•15, 11, 7, 3, ........

B. 10, 7, 4, 3, _____?

C. 2, 8, 14, ______?
 Common Difference

 The value added each time is called the "common

difference"

 Arithmetic Means

 The terms between any two

nonconsecutive terms of an arithmetic
sequence are known as arithmetic means.
Example: Insert 4 arithmetic means between 5
and 25.

 Geometric Sequence

 is made by multiplying by the same value each

time.
 is a sequence where each term after the first is
obtained by multiplying the preceding term by a
nonzero constant called the common ratio.
