GENERAL

BIOLOGY
GROUP 3 PRESENTATION
WHAT IS CHANGE?
- Change refers to transformation, transition, or
substitution. Change can be of two types,
physical and chemical. Physical changes are
changes in the physical properties of substances
where no new substances are formed in these
changes. While chemical change refers to
changes that occur when a substance combines
with another to form a new substance.
Everything in this world goes over change
either physically or molecular state. The
process sometimes takes a short period of
time while others take longer, but regardless
of time and characteristics, everything
changes. It is all caused by a certain energy
around us and these energy aids in the
transformation of any matter.
What are some examples of change?

- change of weather
- to ship one's means of conveyance
- to shift to lower register
- to pass from one phase
WHAT IS ENERGY?

- is the ability to do work

or cause change
NATURE OF ENERGY
• Energy is all around you.
• You hear energy as sound, you see
energy as light.
• Living organisms need energy for
growth
(2) MAJOR FORMS OF
ENERGY
•Potential energy
•Kinetic energy
WHAT IS POTENTIAL
ENERGY?
•Potential energy is the energy
an object has because of its
condition or position.
Example:

• yo-yo in held in your hand

• drawing a bow
• stretching a rubber band
WHAT IS KINETIC
ENERGY?
• Every moving object has
energy. The energy that a body
gets because of motion is
called the KINETIC ENERGY.
FORMS OF KINETIC ENERGY
•Heat
•Light
•Electric
•Mechanical energy
CONVERSION OF
ENERGY
• Potential energy gets converted to kinetic
energy.
