• Staff or stave is the foundation of music where music
notes and other musical symbols are written or placed
to indicate the pitch of the note.

• It consist of 5 lines that runs horizontally from left to


right and 4 spaces in between those lines.

Types of Staff
1. Treble Staff

2. Bass Staff

1. Treble Staff

is a combination of two staves
put together, usually a treble clef
and a bass clef.

A vertical line that divides the musical
staff into Measures or bars

Measure or Bar:
The space between two
bar lines.
• Single bar line: A single vertical line that indicates the
end of one bar and the beginning of another.
 Double Bar Line- is used at the end of a
section of music. this type of Bar Line is
known as a “Double Bar Line”, a “Double
Bar” and even an “Interior Double Bar
Line”.
Final Bar Line- is used at the end of the music. This
type of Bar Line is known as a “Double Bar Line”, a
“Final Bar Line”, a “Final Double Bar Line”, a “Period
Double Bar Line” and also a “Terminal Double Bar Line”.

• Ledger lines are lines located
outside of the normal range of
the standard staff.

• Can be placed above or


below the outside room of
the staff.
