Principles

1. What are the characteristics of Tata’s leadership?
 The main characteristics of Tata’s leadership are briefly
explained in following points:

a) “Responsible, authentic and integral” with commitment to a

triple bottom line of profits, people, and the planet are the
principles of their leadership.

b) Symbol of the success of modern Western-style capitalism.

c) Its leadership and management principles hale back to India’s

ancient culture and religion based on values of integrity,
hospitality, humility, kindness, and selflessness

d) Leader thinks big and encourages others to do likewise.

e)Leader is not the type of boss who is given to thumping the table. He
softly mandates, and those to whom the message is addressed get the
point very clearly.

f) He does not discourage those who occasionally fail to deliver”

g) Their leadership is good listener while also able to express his own
view convincingly.

h) Their leader is private, self-effacing, and humble man who advocated

the importance of globalization ahead of his time.

i) The company promotes broad cultural diversity under their leadership

style

j) The leadership principles that guide the company are implemented in

recruitment and training and reward systems
2. Which levels of culture would the Tata Corporation
need to consider?
 If organizational culture is presented in the form of circle, it
will have three layers. The outermost will be artefacts,
middle will be the values and beliefs and inner most will be
the underlying assumptions.

 The Tata Motors Ltd’s core values are the shared goals,
principles and standards. These core values are
accountability, diversity, quality, collaboration, passion,
integrity and leadership.

 Assumptions are deeply embedded ideologies and

philosophies and provide the foundation to the Tata Motors
Ltd’s organizational culture.
The artefacts form the outermost layer of the organizational
culture circle:tangible and visible aspects of the Tata Motors Ltd’s
organizational culture.

Its business is a symbol of the success of modern Western-style

capitalism; its leadership and management principles hale back
to India’s ancient culture and religion based on values of
integrity, hospitality, humility, kindness, and selflessness.

Thus, the Tata Corporation would consider inner and middle

level of culture that has brought this business so far so successful
and to take this much more so far and so successful. But at last ,
it should also consider outermost level of culture of Tata
corporation for good image and position in the market which is
also very important to conduct and grow it’s business in market.
3. Can the management style be implemented elsewhere?
 Yes , the management style can be implemented elsewhere as
well because of following points :

a) Its business is a symbol of the success of modern Western-style

capitalism; its leadership and management principles hale back
to India’s ancient culture and religion based on values of
integrity, hospitality, humility, kindness, and selflessness.

b)“Responsible, authentic and integral” with commitment to a

triple bottom line of profits, people, and the planet are the
principles of their leadership.

c)Their leadership is good listener while also able to express his

own view convincingly.
d) Leader is not the type of boss who is given to thumping the table.
He softly mandates, and those to whom the message is addressed get
the point very clearly. He does not discourage those who occasionally
fail to deliver” ). Leader thinks big and encourages others to do
likewiseTheir leader is private, self-effacing, and humble man who
advocated the importance of globalization ahead of his time

e) The company promotes broad cultural diversity under their

leadership style.

Therefore, the management style can be implemented elsewhere as

their management style is based on Indian traditions, culture
beliefs, principles and leadership which is also one of the main
reason of success of Tata company. And if the company can success
in such vast geography , unstable government , vast cultural
diversity, instability etc of India . The management style can be
implemented elsewhere and even success easily anywhere else
