Balancing

 Balancing is the method used to

reduce the vibration levels at
running speed. Various vendors
offer equipment to do this and
the methods are virtually the
same for all systems. The end
result is a smoother running
machine, which will run for
longer

 Machine data is then

entered and saved
under a specific
machine name
 Users can select:
 1-plane or 2-
plane

Job setup

 Balance quality based on

ISO 1940
 Trial masses are based
on machine data
 Aim to reduce
unbalance
immediately

Balance Steps- Initial Unbalance

 Balancing steps are easy

to follow and intuitive
 Balancing job begins
with measurement of
initial unbalance
 Onscreen arrows prompt
user to navigate to next
step using joystick

Balancing Steps – Trial Mass
 Analysers calculate
optimum position and mass
for trial mass in an effort
to immediately reduce
unbalance
 Machine depiction clearly
defines location for trial
mass (for 2-plane balance)
 Prompt to next step

Mass defined (in this case) in terms of

blade numbers (fixed location)
- User can adjust actual mass to be

Balance Steps – Trial Measurement

 Vector diagram auto-

scales to assist user in
understanding progress
of job
 User can navigate
back or forward to
re-check steps if
necessary

Balance Steps – Trim Mass

 User has choice of

removing or leaving
trial mass on machine
 Analyser calculates
appropriate trim mass
to attach (mass can
also be drilled-out)

Balance Steps – Trim Measurement

 Balancing program
designed to
efficiently &
effectively resolve
unbalance in minimum
number of steps
 Significant
improvement is
expected after first
trim mass

Balance Steps – Balance Result

 Acceptable icon
appears to let user
know balance
quality has been
reached
 User free to
continue working
with trim masses
should a higher
quality result be
desired

Balance Steps – Balance Results

 Once balancing job is

complete, all details of
job can be saved for
archiving and eventual
upload to PC-
Software

Archiving & Reporting

 PC-Software interface
provides long-term
storage of balancing
results
 Balancing files stored
at “measurement
location” of database
structure
 Good to have this
stored with machine
data
