INDUSTRIAL

OVERVIEW OF
POLYESTER FIBRE
IN BANGLADESH

A presentation by Team Aurora

INDUSTRY
OVERVIEW
BACKGROUND OF POLYESTER FIBER INDUSTRY

• Polyester fiber was presented by Du Pont de Nemours Company in

1951.
• In 1958, Eastman Chemical Products developed another polyester
fiber named Kodel.
• Polyester experienced steady growth until the 1970s but after that
sales started to decline for some reason.
• In Bangladesh, it was first introduced in 2010 but first polyester fiber
factory was built in 2015.
• As it is a new industry in Bangladesh, it is regulated by the
Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA).
TYPES OF POLYESTER FIBER

There are two media from where we can get polyester fiber:
A.Virgin Media: It is that type of media from where we produce our product
by chemical reaction and minerals.
B.Recycle Media: This media is eco-friendly. We recycle our waste (such as
plastic bottles, bags and so on which can produce ethylene) and convert it
into polyester fiber.

our country.
• 7 companies got the license to establish their recycled PSF
manufacturing factory.
• Deshbandhu Polymer Ltd is the only manufacturing company which
uses both of the media to produce polyester fiber.
