SCIENCE BEHIND INDIAN CULTURE

India's culture is among the world's oldest and supreme culture in the world . India is a
very diverse country with different regions have their own distinct cultures , Language, religion,
food and the arts are just some of the various aspects of Indian culture.  Most of the Hindu customs
and traditions have scientific reason behind . Traditions and customs were taught at a very young
age and followed as part of life.
NAMASKAR
PERCEPTION : Provide Respect to Elders .

SCIENTIFIC REASON

Joining both hands ensures touching the tips of all the fingers together, which are linked to
pressure points in the eyes, ears, and mind. Pressing them together is said to activate these,
helping us remember that person for a long time.

SURYA NAMASKAR
PERCEPTION : Getting Freshness and activeness

SCIENTIFIC REASON

Hindus have a tradition of paying their respects to the Sun God early in the
morning through the Surya Namaskar which gives multiple benefits:

1. Good focus 2. Good memory 3. Good digestion and blood circulation.

Meditation strengthens the brain by reinforcing the connections between brain

It is very interesting to know that sit up posture increases the blood flow in the
memory cells in brain which promote calmness. It also stimulates neural pathways
via acupressure points in the earlobe, sharpens intelligence and also helps those with
autism, learning difficulties and Behavioural problems

Shikha is a tuft of hair at the back of head specifically kept by Vaishnavas and Brahmanas.
Shikha is a tuft of hair at the back of head . The small portion of hair that hangs from behind
our head applies little pressure on our brains that helps one to improve concentration and
mind control and improve memory.

The multiple layers of the turban helps to keep mild pressure on the 26 bones of
the skull which activates the blood flow toward the head. And also it keep the
head in cool which a way to escape from blazing heat.

SCIENTIFIC REASON
Sindoor is prepared by mixing turmeric, lime and the metal mercury. Due to its
intrinsic properties, mercury controls blood pressure. Thus, Sindoor should be
applied right up to the pituitary gland where all our feelings are centred.

TILAK ON FOREHEAD

The spot between the eyebrows on a forehead is considered a major nerve point in the
human body. A tilak is believed to prevent the loss of energy, and retain this to control
various levels of concentration and also facilitating blood supply to the facial muscles.

SCIENTIFIC REASON
Bangles cause constant friction with the wrist which increases the blood
circulation level. Furthermore, the electricity passing out through outer skin
is again reverted to one’s own body because of the ring shaped bangles.

TOE RINGS

SCIENTIFIC REASON
Indian women normally wear toe rings on the second toe. A particular nerve
from this connects the uterus and passes to heart. Thus, a toe ring on this toe
strengthens the uterus, keeping it healthy by regulating the blood flow to it.
