THE CAMERON TYPE “F” GATE

VALVE
PRESENTED BY
KIZITO OBATI

OCTOBER, 2022
WHAT IS A TYPE “F” GATE VALVE

Type “F” gate valve is; Primary components are;

 A double seat  Body
 Non-rising stem  Bonnet
 Through conduit  Gate and seat assembly
 Lubricated gate valve  Stem and stem packing
 Used for Xmas tree  Thrust bearing assemblies
services
PRINCIPAL FEATURES OF THE TYPE “F” GATE VALVE
These features includes; Side view showing Principal
Features of the Type “F” Gate Valve
1. Rotating seats: Special feature, prolongs
life expectancy than conventional valves.
2. Needle thrust bearings: Reduced
handwheel turning effort
3. Stem shear pin: Fails under excessive
torque
4. Grease injection port: Lubrication of body
cavity & internal parts
5. Stem back-seating: Change of stem packing
6. Gate and seat assembly: Reduce entry of
foreign materials into the gate cavity.
VALVE DESIGN & OPERATION - TRIM

TRIM DESCRIPTION – TYPE “F” GATE VALVE
HIGH TEMPERATURE TRIMS LOW TEMPERATURE - ARCTIC
 Regular trims: ≤5000psi working TRIMS, FOR AS LOW AS -75°F
pressure valve, used for wellhead  Arctic trims
and production services where
 Arctic Full stainless trim
corrosion is of little or no concern
 Arctic with Super trims
 Stainless steel trims: 10,000 –
20,000psi working pressure valve,  Arctic Full stainless steel
used for wellhead and production with super trim
services where mild weight loss
corrosion is expected
CONT’D
 Full stainless steel trims: used for wellhead and production
services where weight loss corrosion is a major concern
 Super trims: used for wellhead and production services where
stress corrosion is of prime concern
 Full stainless steel with super trim: used for wellhead and
production services where both stress and weight loss corrosions
are of major concern
 Modified trims, 500°F & 650°F; Teflon/Viton Stem packing, stem
threads & retainer plates are coated with permanent solid film
lubricant, longer bonnet & stem
