 What Are Concentric Circles?

Concentric circles are circles with a common center. The region between two concentric
circles of different radii is called an annulus. Any two circles can be made concentric by
inversion by picking the inversion center as one of the limiting points.
If two circles overlap but have different centers, they are not concentric circles. If a circle is
inside another circle but they have different centers, they are not concentric circles, either. A
set of concentric circles may contain 2, 3, 4, 10, or any number of circles.
 How are Concentric Circles Formed?

Concentric circles are circles that share the same center. A pebble dropped in
a pond creates concentric circles. So do the ripples formed by a milk drop
shown below. If two or more circles are concentric I n the same plane, they
must have different radii.

Since the concentric circles are the circles with the same center, but different radius, say
r1. Thus, the formula for the concentric circle is given as: ( x – h)2 + ( y- k)2 = r12, such that
r should not be equal to r1.
 Where Do Concentric Circles Appear?
Concentric Circles are also found in diopter sights, a type of methanic sights
commonly found on target rifles. They usually feature a large disk with a
small-diameter hole near the shooter’s eye,and a front globe sight (a circle
contained inside another circle,called tunnel).

 How Does Dartboard Involve Concentric
Circles?
Three darts are all it takes to run a game. The most central circle,the eye of the
bullseye,is worth a whopping 50 points.In a standard game the perfect score, a “ton
80”,is a total of 180 points from three dart arrows.
Those Concentric Circles Allow For Precise Play.With darts,it’s all about the aim.A
bullseye is an ultimate goal,but those circle layers allow for keeping a score more
detailed than “strike” or “no-strike”.The specific design of the numerical scoring system
among the Concentric Circles keep the play fair and cuts back on the probability of lucky
shots ruling the game. A dartboard is given which is made up of three concentric circles
with radii 1,3 and 5 inches.
 Ripples

A small wave or series of waves on the surface of

water,especially as caused by an object dropping into it
or a slight breeze.
 How Does Ripples Involve Concentric Circles?
The Stone introduces energy to the system and pushes the water out of the way to form
ripples.

Did you know these ripples are also called Capillary Waves which travel along the
phase boundary of a fluid (e.g. water) and are dominated by the effects of surface
tension (how strongly molecules in a liquid stick together). Water has a High Surface
Tension which explains why is can form droplets and how some insects like water
boatmen can “walk on water”.
