NATIONAL
STRUCTURAL CODE OF
THE PHILIPPINES

The National Structural Code of the Philippines is a referral code of

Presidential Decree No. 1096 (National Building Code of the Philippines)
that consists of standard specification on the materials and its
components that will ensure that building or structures can withstand
strong disasters likes earthquakes, typhoons, landslides, and other
calamities.
HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT

NSCP 1970

CALAMITIES

NSCP 2015
PURPOSE OF NSCP

To provide minimum requirements for the design of

components of buildings, towers, bridges and other structures,
and minimum standard and guidelines to safeguard life or limb,
property and public welfare.
VOLUMES 1 & 2 OF NSCP
VOLUME 1
This volume of NSCP deals mainly
with the Buildings, Towers, and
other Vertical Structures.

On the other hand, this volume

focuses on bridges, roads,, and other
horizontal structures.
VOLUME 2
ASEP
The Association of Structural Engineers of the
Philippines, Inc. is the recognized
organization of Structural Engineers of the
Philippines Established in 1961. ASEP is
known for its publication and revision of
NSCP.
Advances Structural Engineering practices,
uphold high ethical values. They are the one
that is responsible for revisions and
publications of codes and structural system
requirements

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

IS THE DETERMINATION
OF THE EFFECTS OF
LOADS ON PHYSICAL
STRUCTURES AND
THEIR COMPONENTS.
STRUCTURES SUBJECT
TO THIS TYPE OF
ANALYSIS THAT MUST
WITHSTAND LOADS.
REASONS FOR STRUCTURAL
ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

Structural Analysis and Design are

considered in building whether a
horizontal or vertical structure
because there lots of loads and
factors that the structures can
encounter.

TYPES OF LOADS US IN SAAD

DEAD LOADS LIVE LOADS
Loads consisting of Also called imposed or
weight of the structural sudden loads. Movable
members. or moving loads.

Loads from shaking of

plates on earth Horizontal loads that is
EARTHQUAKE caused by the wind.

BORING TEST

Is a type of geologic engineering tests to determine the

capability of the soil or the strength and properties of a required
building foundation.
