Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract
 When emergencies happen, navigation services that guide people
to exits keeping them away from emergencies are critical in
saving lives.
 Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a natural choice of the
infrastructure to support emergency navigation services, given
their relatively easy deployment and affordable costs, and the
ability of ubiquitous sensing and communication.
 In this project, a situation-aware emergency navigation algorithm
named SEND, which takes the hazard levels of emergencies and
the evacuation capabilities of exits into account and provides the
mobile users the safest navigation paths accordingly is being
proposed.
 The effectiveness of SEND is validated by both experiments and
extensive simulations in 2D and 3D scenarios.

Modules

Module 1: Network Depolyment

Module 2: Hazard Point

Module 3: Path Hazard Metric and the Safest Path

Module 4: Shortest Situation Aware Emergency Navigation

Module 1 – Network Deployment

Network Model is based on the topology concept.

A place to be considered where there may be different

emergency events and multiple exits with different

evacuation capabilities
Module 2 - Hazard Point
 Hazard point is used to identify the region at risk

 In this module, Hazard intensity is used to quantify the

hazard of a location and it is only an instant feeling of the
user.

 Hazardous potential represents the total hazardous intensity.

Module 3 - Path Hazard Metric and
Safest Path

 It is used for identifying the safest and nearest paths.

 On the basis of hazard potential and hazard intensity

calculations, the safest and nearest paths are identified for
each user.
Module 4 - Shortest Situation Aware
Emergency Navigation

 The information is passed on as notification to each

individual users within the area of hazard and the users are
getting outside safely
