Conjunctions of Purpose

There are two types in conjunctions of purpose

1. “in order to” it is used to express the purpose of

something

2. “So that” it is used to express why someone do

something

PATTERN
 1. Action + in order to + purpose (Verb1)
Example :
She works three part time jobs in order to pay for her
college tuition

2. Action + so that + purpose

Example :
I’ve bought electronic dictionary so that I can study
English
 3. To + infinitive
Example :
I went to the convenience store to buy milk

4. Such + noun/(adj)+ that

Example :
- She is such a charming woman that everybody stares at her
- She has such beautiful eyes that I can’t take my eyes off her
 5. Action + so as to + purpose
Example :
She will go to cinema so as to watch the new movie

6. Action + in case + possible reason

Example :
I will not go to my office by my car in case it snows
7. Action + in order that + purpose (S + modal + V1)
Example :
We wear jumpers in order that we can keep warm

Example :
Tasya got a fever, so she does not go to school
