File formats that are supported in PowerPoint
.pptx Files with PPTX extension are presentation files
created with popular Microsoft PowerPoint
application.

.bmp (Device Independent Bitmap) A slide that is saved as a graphic


for use on web pages.

.gif (GIF Graphics Interchange Format) A slide that is saved as a graphic for use on web pages.

.jpg (Joint Photographic Experts Group) A slide as a graphic for use on web pages.

The JPEG file format supports 16 million colors and is best


suited for photographs and complex graphics.
.png (Portable Network Graphics) PNG supports transparent backgrounds.

.wmv (Windows Media Video) A presentation that is saved as a video.

The WMV file format plays on many media players.

Note: This format is only available in PowerPoint 2010 and


newer versions.

.mp4 MPEG-4 Video


A presentation that is saved as a video.

The MP4 file format plays on many media players, such as


Windows Media Player.
