 The Government of Punjab (GOP) has initiated this project formerly known as Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park (QAAP).
 Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) is responsible for the execution of this project.

The project is to be developed over 228 acres of Land besides main
Walton Road in Lahore. Authority now covers the entire Punjab
province through amendment in the Act. Once completed the project
is estimated to generate over PKR 1.228 Billion/USD 7.6 Billion in
direct revenue for the Government of Punjab. The project will provide
hundreds of thousands new jobs in the construction and allied
industries, providing a major boost to the economy and employment

The purpose of these parks is to provide an organized solution to the
haphazard transport, storage and distribution of goods.

Impact  Decreased traffic congestion, air pollution in residential areas and


improved traffic management.
 A logistics market may be stimulated and hence reduce costs through
the sharing of transport and storage and high volume of goods being
managed efficiently
 Improved global logistics indicators for countries which would make
investment and business more attractive
 It has the capacity to generate significant employment through direct
and indirect provision of services.

Brief of the Project

• Under the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, the


Government of the Punjab took initiative for establishment of Pannah
Gahs in year 2018.
• Social Welfare Department directly runs 13 PannahGahs at Lahore
and 01 at Taunsa Shareef.
• Among these, 05 are signature PannhaGahs, located at Data Darbar,
Railway Station, Fruit & Vegetable Market, Bus Stand and Thokar
Niaz Baig.
• In addition, 27 temporary PannahGahs are established in Punjab by
DCs, Health Dept and Philanothropists.
• Meals are being provided to the staying persons as well as to the
other needy persons by philanthropists.
• Stay is being offered from 6:00 pm to 9:00 am on daily basis
• In total, PannahGahs in all over Punjab are 41(14 Permanent and 27
Temporary) now. 06 new PannahGahs will be completed till Dec 2022
in different cities of Punjab

Context Punjab is witnessing a revival of international sports and events


with Lahore being the main hub. The increase in frequency and
magnitude of these events calls for accommodation for the
attendees which is appropriate, is in close proximity to the venues
and is non-prohibitive to the general public.
In practice with international standards, athletes are provided with
accommodation close to the stadium for easy accessibility and
away from city congestion.

Lahore Knowledge Park (1/2) SMU

Context Government of Punjab mutated a piece of land of 800 acres at Bedian


Road, Lahore (surrounded by DHA VI & VII) to Higher Education
Department (HED) for development of the Lahore Knowledge Park
(LKP).The HED established Lahore Knowledge Park Company to
develop, operate and manage this project.The Board of Revenue
(BOR) issued specific Statement of Conditions (SOCs) for utilization
of this land after approval from the Provincial Cabinet

Education: University or Institution shall be chartered either by the any


Potential Provincial or Federal Govt or by a Govt of any foreign Country.The
Investors BOD of LKPC is targeting any renowned foreign university from top
500 QS ranking international universities.The BOD is also working to
set up Advanced Training Institute at LKP for advance level training in
the fields of Chip Design, DevOps and other high in demand trainings.

Plan Of Action
• The LKPC initiated an Expression of Interest to seek interest of potential partners / investors in the fields of Education
& Training, Manufacturing and Software & Services.
• In response to the EOI, the LKPC received 35 proposals and it is expected that at least 12-15 proposals are good
contenders for establishment of their setups at LKP.

• The BOD accorded approval to convene potential parties presentations in August 2022 to immediately move forward
for allocation of land.

• Presentation of major 8-9 groups is being arranged directly before the Board of Directors on 30-31 August 2022.

• Presentation of medium 10-12 organizations is being arranged before the Strategic Plan Committee of the LKPC on
23-24-25 August 2022.

• The BOD after taking all presentations will prioritize the investor organizations and priority potential projects for the
LKP.

• The BOD shall finalize the criteria and ancillary matters with respect to allocation of land accordingly.

• As the development of roads and provision of utilities to the allocated plot for each organization is responsibility of the
Govt, therefore, phase wise development of basic infrastructure be initiated to meet the development requirements of
LKP.

Induction of Eco-Friendly Buses in Punjab

» Punjab Transport Company (PTC) plans to introduce eco-


friendly urban buses for operations in the cities of Punjab

» The project for induction of buses is reflected in Annual


Development Plan (ADP) 2021-22

» Currently PTC is conducting short-term consultancies for


Lahore, Faisalabad and South Punjab (Bahawalpur,
Mianwali, D.G. Khan) in order to estimate the transport
demand for eco-friendly and electric buses

» In the long term, PTC also aims to induct buses in other

• The Punjab Government has launched Kissan
Card to bring transparency in the purchase of
agriculture products.
• The Kissan cards are being issued to all the
farmers in Punjab so that all the subsidies
could be transferred to growers in cash
directly as per the vision of Prime Minister
Imran Khan.
• The growers could purchase the seed,
fertilizers, and pesticides from the registered
dealers at cheaper rates through the card.

So far, 845,954 farmers have received this card and transactions


of 6,152,629 have been conducted
