Complete Denture

Complete Denture
 A removable dental prosthesis that
replaces the entire dentition and
associated structures of the maxillae or
mandible.
Reasons of tooth loss

Traumatic injuries.
Dental diseases of the teeth.
Disease of the gums.
Infections.
Cysts, malignancies and tumors.
radiation therapy.
Congenitally missed teeth.
Objectives of complete
denture treatment
To provide adequate
masticating functions.
To restore natural
appearance.
To restore normal speech.
To accomplish these
objectives in a way that will
ensure patient comfort and
preserve the supporting
tissues.
Preservation of the remaining tissues

Prevention of muscles and


TMJ dysfunction

Preservation of the
residual ridge.

Preservation of the
tongue contour and space.
Contraindications for a Full Denture
Another acceptable alternative is
available.
Physical or mental illness

• The portion of the surface of a denture
that extends in an occlusal direction
from the border of the denture and
includes the palatal surface.

usually polished, and it includes the
buccal and lingual surfaces of the
teeth.
