Definition of Terms
Introduction
Time management is an essential component in everyone’s life.

Time management has also been defined as a type of self-management that

places a strong emphasis on time in terms of determining what things to do, how
to do them more efficiently, when to do them, and when is the best time to
accomplish them (Savino, 2016).
Introduction
Time Managements is correlated to lower anxiety and improved academic performance
among students (Jenaabadi, Nastiezaie, & Jalalzaei, 2016).

Effective time management considerably aids students' academic performance and

achievements. Every student should be able to effectively manage their time, which
includes setting goals and priorities, implementing time management strategies, and
being well-organized.
Introduction
This research will aid in determining the students' time management system when using a
modular method to learning mathematics. Furthermore, this research seeks to develop a
WHLP monitoring program for students' effective time management and learning.
Theoretical Framework
Pickle Jar Theory
The pickle jar theory is a time management theory that is essentially based on
the premise that, like a pickle jar, time is a finite area that may be filled with
things of all different shapes and sizes concerning time. According to the pickle
jar hypothesis, people's activities and obligations must be balanced utilizing an
effective time management system (Wright, 2002).
Theoretical Framework
The pickle jar theory, as it relates to time management for higher academic
performance, emphasizes the importance of identifying one's major
priorities during the day (assignments, projects, study hours, family
responsibilities, among others), which is a vital indicator of academic
success (Nwabueze, 2016).
Theoretical Framework
Goal Setting Theory
Locke et al. (1981) found that setting goals had a favorable impact on task
performance.
Theoretical Framework
ABC System
The letter allocated to a task indicates its priority level, with A denoting the
highest level of urgency, B denoting low urgency but important jobs, and C
denoting chores that are not urgent but can be postponed.

Statement of the Problem
The main purpose of this study is to assess students' time management system in modular approach
in learning mathematics. This study, therefore, aims to answer the following questions:
1. What is the demographic profile of the students’ participants with respect to:

a. number of study hour spend per day;

b. learning environment;

c. parent support;

d. economic status of parents; and

e. learning resources
Statement of the Problem
2. What are the challenges encountered by the students in learning Mathematics
using modular approach at home?

3. What are the coping mechanism of the students in managing their time in
learning at home?

4. Based on the result of the study, what enhanced school monitoring program of
the WHLP should be conducted for the students for effective time management
and learning?
Significance of the Study
This study will assess the time management system of the students in modular approach
in learning mathematics. The researcher believes that this study will provide information
on the time management system of the students of Manoligao National High School, and
on what factors affect their academic performance. To better improve their time
management skills, the researcher will craft the enhancement of the WHLP.
Scope and Limitation
This study focused on assessing the students’ time managements system in the modular
approach to leaning mathematics.

The participants of the study are the students of Manoligao National High School, the
parents of the students, and the teachers of the same school.

RESOURCE METHODOLOGY
Research Design

Research Locale

Participants of the Study

Research Instrument

Data Gathering Procedure

Research Design
A mixed-method research design is used in the study. The researcher decided to conduct a
mixed-method research design since the study undergoes collecting, analyzing, and
“mixing” both quantitative and qualitative to better understand the research problem. The
researcher will conduct a one-on-one interview with the respondents for data collection.
In assessing the time management system of the students, Mean Percentage Scores (MPS)
of the students will be used.
Research Locale
The study will be conducted at Manoligao National High School, which is in a rural
area of Carmen, Agusan del Norte. The school is 7.8 kilometers away from the National
Highway. The one-on-one interview will be conducted at the school observing social
distancing and proper health protocols.
Participants of the Study
The participants of the study are the students, parents, and the teachers of
Manoligao National High School (MNHS). The researcher used stratified
random sampling in determining the participants. In choosing the student and
the parent participants, the population is divided into six (6) strata, and in each
stratum, five (5) participants are randomly chosen. In choosing the teacher
participants, the same process is applied but, in each stratum, only one (1)
participant is randomly chosen.
Research Instrument
The researcher will use survey questionnaires and interviews as a significant data
collection instrument to carry out this study. The data gathered will be used to
contextualize interpretation and present the possible intervention to enhance the WHLP.
The open-ended and survey questions will allow participants to respond in available text
style, allowing them to express themselves freely.
Data Gathering Procedure
The researcher will write a letter to the School Head of Manoligao National High School
requesting permission to conduct the study. If approved, the researcher will administer
the questionnaire and distribute it to the participants of the study. After distributing the
questionnaire to the student-participants, the researcher will then interview the parent-
and-teacher-participants to further gather data. The data will then be sorted, tabulated,
evaluated, and interpreted.
