OBJECTIVE

 Our earth is enclosed by 75% of water that could be a river or sea or ocean. The
underwater sensor network becomes more and more conventional for monitoring
huge areas of the oceans where manual intervention is not possible.

 The domain of underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) had received a

lot of attention recently due to its significant advanced capabilities in the ocean
surveillance, marine monitoring and application deployment for detecting
underwater targets.

 The UWSNs offer continuous observation for various applications similar to

ocean sampling networks, pollution monitoring, disaster prevention, submarine
detection, etc.
z
INTRODUCTION

 UWSN is a fusion of wireless technology with extremely small

micromechanical sensor technology having smart sensing, intelligent
computing, and communication capabilities.

 UWSN is a network of autonomous sensor nodes which are spatially distributed

underwater to sense the water-related properties such as quality, temperature,
and pressure. The sensed data can be utilized by variety of applications that can
be used for the benefit of humans.

Underwater Acoustic wireless sensor network

 Acoustic means related to sound. Acoustic waves are used for wireless
communication in underwater and also can travel over long distance.

TWO-DIMENSIONAL UWSN

These networks are constituted by sensor nodes that are anchored to thebottom of
the ocean. Used for monitoring. Transmitter is used to communicate with onshore
sink to surface sink. Sensors can be connected to uw-sink via

 Direct Link

 Multi-hop Path

The Simulation Environment

 MATLAB

The environment is implemented as a set of MATLAB scripts and

functions. MATLAB makes development easier through simple syntax and
advanced libraries.

CONCLUSION

It was observed that a good number of applications are assisted by UWSNs

for the harsh underwater environment. UWSN has become one of the prime
focuses for researchers. If these applications are properly exploited and
catered, a lot of lives, time, and money can be saved.
