integral role to capture, record and
communicate events, activities, traditions and
even beliefs systems of various groups of
people.

Deriving Meaning from Art

• In arts, in order for people to make sense of the


work, it would require understanding the visual
elements where art was grounded on, especially
the principles of design.

Major Points:
 An alternativevenue for knowing ourselves and looking into the
depths and real meaning of what we are doing for everyday life.
 Form a crafting stories or transforming brief moments into images
and symbols.
 Connecting with people, understanding culture, and embodying
tolerance and peace
 An exploration and application of he imagination in an active way.

CRAFTING IMAGES:
 Imaging or representing in any form, which may be
through painting, sculpting, drawing, story telling,
poetry, ancing, composing or taking notes
 It is rooted in our own personal experiences, our
personal encounters, and events that triggered our
reflection, recall and judgment.

CRAFTING STORIES:
 The moment we write, engrave, and inscribe our own
thoughts, ideas, commentaries, criticisms, and positive
and negative emotions, we are crafting stories.
 It becomes our own history that can be handed down to
our children and fsmily for the succeeding generations.

CRAFTING INSTRUMENTS:
 An instrument maker is a bridge toward the unknown
because the instrument produces sounds that transcend
our feeling, emotions, and sensation in another realm.

 Life is full of movements, filled with various beats.
 Life is full of flowing
The Audience must
have:
• Style-refers to distinctive handling of
elements and media.
• Form-is what the audience sees
• Content- is the subject matter and
underlying meaning or themes.
Improvisation
Define as doing something without prior
preparation.
It adds up to the totality of the work of art.
Makes the artworkto have a distinctive
quality that crafts its individuality and
identity.
Appropriation
• refers to the act of borrowing or reusing
existing elements within a new work. Post-
modern appropriation artists, including Barbara
Kruger, are keen to deny the notion of
originality.
