 PULAU TIKUS (MOUSE ISLAND)
THE HIDDEN PARADISE
Pulau Tikus (Mouse Island) is
located at about 15 km from City
of Bengkulu coast to the west. It is
a small island covered by rain
forest surrounded by coral reefs
rich in biological resources.
Mouse island can be reached from
Bengkulu by boat for about 45
minutes drive. This island is clean
and beauty especially the water,
the water is very clear so that you
may see some fish swimming
around the coral which surround
this small island clearly.
 It is part of Bengkulu tourism
destination especially for tourists
which have great interest in
snorkelling, diving and fishing. The
clear water and beautiful coral rock
makes this place an ideal spot for
diving and snorkeling. Or you can
indulge in your fishing hobby since
there are many different types of fish
hiding behind the rocks.
Several types of corals on
Tikus Island consist of
poriter, pocillopora,
sarcophito, acroporase,
fungia, and montipora. The
coral reef is also a
comfortable home for small
fish, so this island is a
paradise for fisher. You can
find crabs, prawns and
lobsters around these coral
reefs.
Unfortunately, the beauty of these coral reefs has been damaged
by many humans, disturbed their function and and make abrasion.
on the island you can see a variety of plants like waru, ketapang,
coconut , nyamplung trees, etc. You can also see the beauty of the
fauna with several types of birds like the black heron, the sea
pigeon, the pecuk padi bird, the kwak maling, etc.
it is also home to a herd of turtles. The
white sand make a comfortable spawn
grounds for hawksbill and green turtles.
Unfortunately this only happens at night.
So for those of you who want to see it, you
can bring a tent to spend the night here.
Besides enjoying the beautiful night sky
over the island, you can also see the
turtle's activity. Don't worry, even at night,
this island is still busy, especially by fisher.
