 The Station nightclub fire
occurred on the night of 20th
February 2003 West Warwick,
Rhode Island.

 It is the fourth deadliest nightclub


fire tragedies in the U.S

 The fire incident left more than


hundred people dead and 230
others seriously injured.

 The fireworks used by the live band


as part of the act ignited a form
insulation that sparked the inferno

 The West Warwick Fire


Department was informed about 40
seconds after the fire started

 Exits at the Station club could not


handle the over 400 occupants

State Medical Examiner’s Office,
and State Fire Marshal

divided the crew into divisions for a
more manageable span of control.

 There were various mitigation
efforts taken by the fire department
aimed at reducing the loss of life
and property by lessening the
impact of the fire tragedy.

congregated on the scene while the
victims were transported to the
nearby medical and trauma centers.
Recovery
 The fundamental disaster assistance
for recovery from the federal
government is divided into three
categories:

Resources
 Much resources were needed in the
rescue operations.

 The local resources were not enough


to help in the operational efforts
and crew had to access more
resources from the state

 Fire safety inspections and code
enforcement are significant factors
to consider within a fire department
organization

 Building owners must conduct a


thorough inspection of the all the
means of egress to ensure that they
are fully functioning and free from
all kinds of obstructions.
