What is Microsoft PowerPoint?

 Microsoft PowerPoint is a powerful presentation software

developed by Microsoft. It is a standard component of the
company's Microsoft Office suite software, and is bundled
together with Word, Excel and other Office productivity
tools.
 The program uses slides to convey information rich in
multimedia and is used to create complex business
presentations, simple educational outlines and much
more.
What is PowerPoint Presentation?

 A presentation created on software from Microsoft that

allows users to add audio, visual and audio/visual features
to a presentation.
 A good way to convey pieces of information usually in a
form of an outline, to a large number of audience.
Uses of PowerPoint Presentation

 Education – with e-learning and smart classes as common

mode of education today, PPT presentations can help in
making education more attractive and attract students
towards the modified version of studying.
 Marketing – PPT presentations can create graphs and
charts to show more numbers more evidently and clearly.
 Business – to invite investors or to show the increase or
decrease of profits.
 Creating Resumes – digital resumes can be done using
Microsoft PowerPoint. Different patterns, photograph,
etc. can be added to the resume.
 Depicting Growth – since both graphics and text can be
added in a presentation, depicting the growth of a
company is easier.
POWERPOINT INTERFACE:
PowerPoint Interface and Its Uses:

 File Tab/Backstage View - provides access to saving,

opening, info about the currently open file
(Permissions, Sharing, and Versions), creating a new file,
printing, and recently opened files.
 Quick Access Toolbar - a collection of shortcuts to the
features, options, commands, or option groups that you
use frequently.
 Ribbon - is a series of menus or toolbars at the top of the
program. When you open a PowerPoint document, the
ribbon appears as a row of labels, or what we call tabs.
 Slide - is a single page of a presentation.
 Slide Pane - contains the current slide in your
presentation. You can use the vertical scroll bar to view
other slides in the presentation.
 Status Bar -  is located at the bottom of the PowerPoint
window, it shows messages and information about the
view, such as the slide number and the current theme
template used.
 Notes Pane - is located below the slide pane and is used to
type reference notes. The notes can be printed, then
referenced when making the presentation.
 Task Pane - interface surfaces that typically appear on the
right side of the window within Word, PowerPoint, Excel,
and Outlook. Task panes give users access to interface
controls that run code to modify documents or emails, or
display data from a data source.
 Slide Area - is the actual slide where you can add slide
objects such as text, pictures, charts, etc.
Features of Microsoft PowerPoint:
 Slide Layout - contain formatting, positioning, and
placeholder boxes for all of the content that appears on a
slide. Placeholders are the dotted-line containers on slide
layouts that hold such content as titles, body text, tables,
charts, SmartArt graphics, pictures, clip art, videos, and
sounds. Slide layouts also contain the colors, fonts,
effects, and the background (collectively known as
the theme) of a slide.
 Insert – under the INSERT category, multiple options are
available where one can choose what feature they want to
insert to their presentation. This may include images,
audio, video, header, footer, symbol, shapes, etc..
 Slide Design - is a graphical representation of themes,
colors, layouts, fonts, and many more.  With the help of
designs, we can choose different types of slides themes
present in the Microsoft PowerPoint.
 Animations - is something that makes slide objects move
on a slide. And slide objects can be anything on a slide.
These include text, pictures, charts, SmartArt graphics,
shapes, even movie clips.
