by a scientist to create his/her reach reports

• Operating system or OS is a system software that manage
all the actions that Take place in the computer.

Operating system
• In the middle of 1970s when personal computer were
included Microsoft came up with operating system called
Microsoft disk operating system.
• Later in 1990s Microsoft came up with GUI based
operating system called Windows.
• (Examples) MS Windows, UNIX, LINUX, Mac OS and
OS/2 (OS/2 stands for operating system).

• In this system, the meeting of deadline is not compulsory
for every time for every task but the task should set
processed and give result.

SOFT REAL-TIME SYSTEM

• When we go to a vending machine to buy snacks like
chips and chocolate we interact with the machine
• Likewise , computers have User Interface . They are of
two types ;
• Command- line Interface (CLI)
• Graphical-User Interface (GUI)

USER INTERFACE
• Character User Interface (CUI)
• Graphical User Interface (GUI)

TYPES OF INTERFACE
• In Character User Interface , We type in commands using
keyboard.
• In this type of Interface , a screen is displayed.
• This interface is also know as command-Line
Interface(CUL).

Character User Interface

(CUI)
• A graphics-based operating system interface that uses
icons, menus and a mouse (to click on the icon or pull
down the menus) to manage interaction with the system.

Graphical user interface

(GUI)
• GUI lets a user interact with the device/system with the
help of graphical elements, like windows, menus, icons,
etc.
• The CLI, on the other hand, lets a user interact with their
device/system with the help of various commands.
• Some OS provide their users with only CLI, while some
offer both CLI and GUI.
