Cardiovascular and

Circulation System
Function of circulatory system

 For transporting food juices originating from the intestine to

all parts of the human body.
 To transport oxygen from the respiratory organs of the lungs
and distribute them throughout the body. And also carry
carbon dioxide from the entire body to the lungs.
 To transport hormones from their production sites to the
parts of the body that need them.
 For transporting waste products resulting from cell metabolic
processes to the excretory organs, namely the kidneys.
 To maintain a stable body temperature so it stays between 36
degrees Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius.
Cardiovascular system

1. Heart
2. Blood vessel
– Artery
– Capillary
– Vein
Heart
Heart is an organ that functions to pump blood
Heart is located at the Thorax Cavum in the
mediastinum above the lung area 2/3 occupies one
side of the median plane
Layer on heart:
1.Endocardium
2.Miocardium
3.Epicardium
Blood vessel

 Artery
A series of efferent vessels that shrink as it branch, and
serve to transport blood, with nutrients and oxygen, to the
tissues.
 Capillary
The smallest blood vessels, which are the sites of O2, CO2,
nutrients, and the exchange of waste products between
blood and tissue.
 Vein
which is formed from the merging of capillaries into a duct
system. Its size gets bigger as these vessels approach the
heart, while carrying blood to the heart, to be pumped
again.
Blood circulation

Large blood circulation

Small blood circulation
