INTRODUCTION TO
GLASS
1-Glass is non crystalline amorphous solid.

2-The most familiar and historically oldest type


is ‘silicate glass’.

3- Glass is melted at a temperature between


1000° C to 2000° C.

4-Most of ordinary glozing and container glass


is made from specific type called ;Soda Lime’
5- Glass is composed of approximately 75% Silicon dioxide (SiO2),
Sodium dioxide (Na2O) From Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3),
Calcium Oxide also called Soda Lime .

6-Glass is the name given o all amourphous bodies that are obtained by
Lowering temperature.

7-Glasees will transmit reflect and refract light.

8-Most application of Silicate glasses derive from their optical transparency.


9-Glass can be coloured by adding metallic salts.

10-Many everyday applications like glass bottles or eye wears,polymer


glasses are lighter alternative than traditional glass.

11-In these days glass is our necessary requirement for our daily because
it plays great role in our life

1-Glass is a useful material because it can be used for variety of things.

2- Glass is useful for the formation of glass lenses, containers,


windows and windscreens and also used in chemical laboratory.

3- They can protect photosensitive.

4- The lenses on glasses are important in today's society because of


the number of people with far or near-sightedness.
5- Glass containers are popular because it stores something without blocking
light and windows in houses and windscreen on cars, block out things from
entering, but allows the person to see outside.

6- Glass can be made in different sizes and object.

7- It can be colored or colorless

8- Glass is extensively used in building construction.

9- It is used for cabinates,shops,front,show cases.


8- In these days glass is also use in making showpieces and for decorating
objects.

9-The biggest advantage of glass is that it is waterproof and does not rust,
and melts in high temperature.
